*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I've not done mine yet :p

But the people being annoyed about setting up the payment thing, completely normal for an MMO. Thankfully managed to nab some cheap timecards :)

Why would I be required to add a subscription/time card to continue to play, when I get 30 days free ??

That's what i came on to have a moan about but now i see :p

You have 27 days of play time remaining. You must sign up for a recurring subscription plan or redeem a Game Time Code before you can play

So, toddled off to add a subsription and surprise surprise it wont load....not good.

It's a stupid idea to be honest. I was expecting to play the 30 days then if i choose to play further THEN subscribe. As no doubt a lot of people will have bought the game and found it's not their cup of tea and wrote it off after having their 30 days time with it, which frankly is better than the average lifespan of most games out these days . But forcing us to subscribe now just seems a backward way of doing things because as Robbo said
It's just so they can claim to have a huge amount of subscribers
:(

oh. and still can't get in.....

And the message on the waiting screen is amusing if not ironic.

Due to high volumes of traffic, you are currently in a waiting queue.

This is not an error page and you do not need to refresh your browser, this page will refresh automatically and take you into the site when there is room available.

Thank you for your patience and enjoy your time playing
Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.

Cant enjoy it if we cant get in now can we :)

First they ran out of codes so I couldn't buy all day yesterday... then I get one and can't register it all morning due to maintenance. Now I manage to sign up, sort out an account but couldn't get on the page to redeem my game code. Now I can't get in the site at all, just getting the Waiting Room page.

EA... just gotta love EA.

I was hoping to have this downloaded at work today so I could play tonight. Think I'll just go Outside(TM) instead :(

A lot of modern MMOs are implementing this system. I don't get the big deal, just cancel it before the 30 free days are up if you don't want to continue the sub.

Which is fine as long as your able to enter a subscription in first place. I think it just comes down to 'oh your the customer, be gratefull we're allowing you this service'

Got this game yesterday after the whole TS3 group decided to get it.

Enjoying it a lot, however my ATI 4860 is really struggling with it. (Q6600 CPU) Everything is set to low, yet when I was in the tombs doing the starter quests I was getting massive FPS drops. It also happens in the Sith Academy. Running fullscreen or windowed makes no difference.

Is this game really that tough on gfx? I didnt really think I would have to do a hardware upgrade :(

Turn off the shadows, I'm running on a Q6600 with a 1GB 4870 and it runs perfectly with shadows set to low / off.

Its one thing to require subscription in the first 30 days but to deprive player the ability to play until they do is a big screw up by EA. They sell the game with a 30day inclusive subscription which if you have already registered the code they are now not honouring.

The queues and initial bug I could live with but now were into the 'pay' game proper :)
