On a related note, in a defamation case the sun actually used the defence that 'people know we write rubbish and what we wrote wasn't intended to be believed'.

Says it all really.

What problem do you have with people reading newspapers that they enjoy? I hate the "it's offensive" crowd, go away and leave people alone. This country would be so much better if everyone just minded their own business.

Well if you're buying the Sun then good quality journalism can't be very high up on your interest list. I think it suits it's reader base pretty well.

Whenever I've seen Page 3, I love the way they have a philosophical caption purporting to be from the aforementioned girl, usually quoting some great historical figure. It's obviously OK to show their norks if people believe that they are intelligent, right?

I'm not sure it needs banning; I'd say that the girls involved know what they're doing and are exploiting the men that buy the papers.

I can imagine that being on Page 3 would either help or damage your career prospects if you wanted to work in a different field. Good if your potential boss is a perv that recruits based on your "assets", bad if the potential employer has a reputation to uphold.
