How did your car last sting you for cash?

Here's mine - 6 months worth:

About £2500 for supercharging the MX-5 :p

Before that my last major motoring expense was roughly £1k on the S-Class - A/C, balljoint, alignment, tyres.

...I decided that I couldn't be bothered to take anything out of it or off of it...

It's normal to feel like that so soon after the event. You'll snap out of it soon and realise there are bits you would rather retrieve.

MacRS4 - £300 for a brake fluid service? That's a lot of money, even for a main dealer.

There's not a week that goes by when I think of some random part I left on my DC5. :(

Wasn't just brake fluid, was a new side-mirror housing too. Think that was most of it from memory, few hundred quid.

£172 Full exhaught
£94 Heater motor
£6 Climate control bulbs
£254 New Timing belt kit, Waterpump, Aux Belt
£450 soon for new clutch, Clutch master cylinder, Gear linkage, engine and gearbox mounts. :(

£70 for plugs and coilpacks, almost preventative really

£200 cambelt water pump and all the trimmings

£280 four new tyres

All off that in quick succession too

Since late Sept I've spend £4.5k :o

In Sept:

Repaired Subframe Where Cracked.
Replaced LH G/Box Mount and Brackets.
Replaced RH Engine Mount and Bracket.
One Toe Link Rose Joint Replaced.
Geo setup.

In Dec:

Remove Rear Subframe And Repair Previously Repaired Section, Further Damage Found And Repaired.
Replaced Exhaust Manifold As Cracks Found All Round Each Joint At Flange.
Powder Coated Diffuser Black.
Wired in OBD2 Port to Hondata ECU.
Replaced Outer CV Joint.
Replaced Bent Nearside Rear Lower Wishbone and Modify To Fit.
New Subframe Brace.
Fit Panel Eliminator Kit.
Replaced Spark Plugs.
Replaced Supercharger Belt.
Custom Mapping.

A new set of tyres in October @ £475

I also fitted a new sports CAT and back box in November @ £900 as the CAT had broken up internally causing a major gas flow blockage and the back box was far too loud.

Umm, yeah it's cost a ******* lot to sort out :/
Once the engine mounts broke, the other items like the exhaust manifold took a pounding.

Touch wood that should be the end of it, just the dampers could be replaced with something much more compliant but that can wait a bit I think!

Neil.
