I think he means the total for each verse added up. The final itteration of song would yield 78 gifts, the last but one would be 66, the one before that 55, etc etc

Such a stupid debate, the plane would take off regardless of the treadmill. A car for example would stay motionless as it's trust is given from the wheels (in contact with the treadmill) wheareas a plane is pushing (or pulling) against the air.
