As the title suggests, what would you buy right now that's between 23-24"?

All I want is bright and vivid colors and images, and something suitable for playing games on.

I'm so confused with all this choice. Also I want it to have VGA, DVi and HDMI ports.

No more than £150 unless it can be justified to go a bit higher.

Thanks people

I have been looking at this: Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS 24

Seems to tick all the boxes but it isn't LED and appears to be a bit old? Is there anything better than this at this price range?

There is a BenQ one G2420HD which seems identicle in terms of spec and many happy people but again, seems old and isn't LED. I think too it has 5ms not 2ms like the Iiyama.

The S24A350H is really the stellar buy in the 24" size at the moment. Once set up correctly it produces an image and level of responsiveness that trounces anything else similar. The BenQ G2420HD is 2ms, like the Iiyama, but the overdrive isn't implemented very well and you get various negative artifacts. The Iiyama has much better motion but as with the BenQ the gamma is a little poor and uncorrectable leading to colours appearing deeper and more saturated than they should. If you need to know more about the S24A350H feel free to contact me by trust. Failing that I'm sure you would be happy with either of the monitors you're considering - I'm just quite a pedant.

Yeah, I was considering the Samsung one you mentioned but I heard it needs a lot of configuring out of the box and I don't seem to be reading many raving reviews on it. So long as the colors are bright and vivid then I'll consider it for sure.

It hasn't got all three connectors though has it?

Also, is the S24A350H in the same league as the Xl2370 or the PX2370? I know you've had experience with those monitors PCM and your opinion is highly respected by me!

Yes it is. I am certainly not a fan of Samsung including only HDMI and VGA (and this does mean some driver-level tweaks are required for some Nvidia GPUs) but as long as you know what to do the S24A350Hs all seem to act quite predictably and performance is comparable to the previous 23" LED-backlit monitors from Samsung. This comparison is drawn if you type 's24a350h monitor of the month' into Google (top result) with some extra information on setting it up on the S27A350H review on the site.

Thank you so much. I have just purchased the S24A350H on your recommendation :)

Now as you highlight, I am in fact quite aware of there being PC -> HDMI issues. Would you be able to point me in the direction of a tutorial or guide which details what it is I need to do in terms of driver tweaking to get the best performance from HDMI?

That would be very helpful indeed, or does that link you mentioned provide all the adequate information needed for this? I'll have a look at that now.

The S27A350H review has a section with step by step what to change on Nvidia GPUs. For AMD GPUs there shouldn't be any issues with the newer Catalyst drivers. I look forward to your thoughts when it arrives! :D

Just read that summary on your website 'monitor of the month' and it sounds nice. I'm looking forward to experiencing this monitor.

Initially I'll only be using VGA as I'll be connecting the monitor to my netbook which only has a VGA output anyway on a basic Intel Graphics on board chipset. So I won't expect anything stunning from that just something functional. Anything beyond that will be a bonus.

I'm sure it will shine though once I hook it up to my desktop pc with a nVidia 460GT card. Though of course, being nVidia I will need to look for this driver tweaking guide.

What exactly are the issues or the main issue you get from HDMI on nvidia cards PCM? AND yes - I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts on this monitor! - thanks again for all your advice. Very much appreciated indeed!

Just really the colour signal as mentioned on the calibration section of the S27A350H review :).
