e-petition for thatcher to get a privatised state funeral

There's a part of me thinking "well done, that's a somewhat witty notion" but there's another part thinking that it's in pretty poor taste, even when it's regarding the Iron Lady.

More than half of your posts so far appear to be about someone who was in Government when you weren't even born. What's the back story here?

He's from Manchester and he's in school. 90% of his teachers probably do nothing but to **** the current government off.

Why?

It's not like she ever stopped to consult her consciousness so why should we? ;)

It would also be rather fitting politically, no?

Why is it in poor taste? Principally because it's poking fun at someones death.

Although as I've said there is a certain amount of wit involved there which is why I would neither condemn it completely nor rejoice in the political aptness.

I'm not one for dancing on graves, but irrespective of perception would the idea not suit her wishes and politics?

Do we normally give PM's state funerals? if not then lets save a few quid and pay back some of the national debt.

tbh she should get tossed out to see like bin laden

Oh what a surprise, vile and disgusting comments from the failures of humanity are coming again...

Why do those on the left consider the idea of celebrating someone's death because they hold different views an acceptable position to hold?

I'd always thought that not speaking ill of the dead and not poking fun at them was a generally held point of good etiquette. I'm no great fan of Mrs Thatcher but it still doesn't sit entirely comfortably to make fun of someones eventual death, except perhaps where they are involved with the joke.

Possibly it would but then again I don't know that privatising potential state funerals was ever part of her vision - I don't think she espoused the view that absolutely everything could and should be privatised.

Slating thatcher isn't going to go down well on this forum.... But im sure that their will be plenty of people celebrating.

Isn't there a slight hypocrisy in everyone paying for it?

No, but it would match her ideology wouldn't it. It could be argued that it is certainly arguments she would struggle to contest.
