Decided to title all my threads like that from now :D
my system is slowly but surely dieing.
And recently someone i know has switched there i5 set-up, he switched to a new board and a k chip, and has said i can have his old set-up (mobo cpu cooler and ram) for £180

Yet its second hand and after the tremendous fail that was the first build: my gaming rig.

My sepc:
phenom II 720Be x3
asus am3 motherboard
(not worth mentioning model, i can slowly hear the chip set solder melting)
cosair xms3 2x2gb ddr3 (not sure waether this is dieing as well)
ati 5830
cm stacker
enermax galaxy 850watt

The parts he's selling should all be covered by the vendors warranty as he has not registered them in his name.

spec of upgrade
i5 2500 cpu (not k)
Asrock extreme 4 (rev 3.0)
stock intel cooler
and 4gb 1600mhz ddr3 (thrown in for free)

the question is.. is it worth it, as i don't really game that much, and when i do im happy with the performance im getting, but then again it it'll mean i dont have to upgrade the motherboard and cpu for a good 3 years or so (hopefully)
and at the price its at with warranty from asrock and intell its a hard one too pass up

it will also mean i have a rebuild of my first build into a second case
and a rebuild of my stacker with a i5 2500

For £180? Yeah, bite his arm off.

Overclocking with the non k 2500 will be limited, but it'll still blow the X3 out of the water at stock.

yes, go for it. its a shame you cant overclock the processor, but your getting a fantastic motherboardwhich should see you through a couple of upgrades (if you look after it)

ps. thats one damned powerful PSU youve got :p

Whoops, im pretty sure its only capable of 850watt :D
hmmm
seems a good idea as i was contemplating going phenom II x6 yet this is cheaper and should be better than an x6 right?
also will put me back to intel, witch seems a good idea right now.
so if my wallet can stomach it i think ill go for it, but ill bring my psu along, and do a post check, and also probably remove the cpu at his as well and check the socket... just incase :)

Would be warey of that MOBO my mate had one like that and it was faulty the RMA returned it to him saying it was fine however we changed every component step by step reverting and trying something else until it was only the mobo he bought a new one and it solved the problem...

thanks for the warning, as i said, im going to test and thourgly inspect the parts before i pay for them :)

just weather i can stomach £180
as that scammer mentioned in one of my threads opened a case, and i only have £70, may be a problem if ebay pulls on his side cause ill owe him £85
but i plan on selling 3 builds after Christmas witch should cover it easily enough and Christmas alone should see me over £100

I have an ASRock Z68 Extreme 4, and it is rock solid and a very good performer. Perhaps not best to advise someone to avoid an enitre product line just cause he had a faulty one? Assuming thats the board in question.
