Dishwashers, what to look out for?

We might be buying a dishwasher in the coming weeks and having never owned one I want to know what to look out for and consider when buying one. i.e loading, cleaning, etc etc

I assume the pricier, higher quality brands (Bosch? Siemens, AEG, Miele etc), are more efficient and reliable? Any in particular to look out for or avoid?

Look out for one that washes your dishes. Them are the ones to buy.
