*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

This is not good, I was hopping later planets, were going to have both sides on, owning different cities like swg, or even entire planets you could raid :(

So what to do when you get to lvl 50 more of the same missions. It seems like there's a lack of thought and you can level to fast. With no real republic vs imperial game.

So basically it's grinding with a decent story line and as soon as you hit 50 you might as well bin the game. The crafting is rubbish.

:( so much hope, what's the chances of big patches coming soon.

it just feels like a giant step back from what mmos should be....

i dont see what there is to keep people playing, pve sucks , pvp sucks, crafting sucks.
whats the point? unless your a diehard starwars fan , theres no depth to the game at all

guildwars is more of an mmo than this and even the devs of guildwars said there game wasnt an mmo.

theres nothing massively mulitplayer about SWTOR

The closest content patch will probably add some kind of guild system and at a push guild capital ships, but i doubt you'll be able to do anything with them.

The game is like a really immature version of WoW.

Instances are everywhere, a big planet like Tatooine will gain another instance around every 100th player. My argument here is if WoW can allow everyone to be in the same zone at once, why can't TorR?

Guilds are incredibly basic, its just a chat room.

Crafting i quite like personally.

The combat feels clunky and the interface for combat (Action bars) is horrible, laggy, buggy and just awful.

I was hoping that the graphics would improve, but they are really bad. I think they made the art for the game back in 2008 - 2009 and haven't really updated it since.

The story is great, but the animations are starting to annoy me. They seem to have made around 15 different animations for conversations and just reused them.

There is no diversity in armour, top tier armour is just recoloured and given a different name.

They have completely removed the MMO for story. Its so sad that they are so close to probably the best MMO to date, but they fall short right at the end....

commando animations half the time arent in sync with the action bar...

look at commandos mortar.. it takes 1.5seconds from the casting bar starting for the first mortar to fire, the casting bar has long gone before the 3rd and final mortar hits the floor :D
a lot of the animations just arent in sync with the actual cast bar and it makes the combat feel clunky

btw all of the endgame content seems to have been done already....

with warhammer the pvp was pretty good , there was a good variety of battlegrounds , the world pvp was great and there were actual places to fight over.
the game had quite a few dungeons aswell and it still failed.

i'd argue the warhammer world was much bigger than swtor aswell

SWTOR has non of this its bound to fail

Having a nightmare. I must have mispelt one of my security questions so my account is locked. There is a method to make it work by resetting your password and relogging back in. But sod's law it asks me the same security question. I know fine well the name of my first school. I tried calling the international number and they are closed. Stupid thing is I logged out to reset my router and I have had nothing but grief since. Its gutting as I just got my spaceship too.

try making a new account (just a dummy one you can activate with a second email or something) then get to teh part where you make your questins and answers then hopefully you can click the box and you should see the answers you typed before if your browser is set to remember stuff you typed into boxes

happend to me, added an extra a into my street i lived on question :D

It is a bit of a let down for me, just gonna play to 50 once on both sides and then quit probably. Just seems like it was created to make a quick buck, no long term appeal. Biggest thing I expect to see in the future is probably just another new planet added every 3-6 months.

whats the point in having pvp servers when you barely ever see anyone nevermind a person of the oposite faction...

i havent seen a sith since alderan which was 2 planets ago :S, im guessing the quest areas for sith are nowhere near the quest areas for republic..... even heading towards endgame.

when warhammer failed so bad i dont see how this game can make it...

pvp sucks
battlegrounds suck
it feels like a solo game.
crafting is all messed up and almost pointless unless your slicing.

it feels as though a team with no mmo experience ever that has no ides about balancing at all has made the game, probably the same team that made kotor ....

there idea of faction balance was cloning both sides in beta , there was a time they were different
Starting to feel the same way. I'm levelling in Hoth atm and havent seen anyone from the Republic side since Tatooine, and even then it was the same two jedi i bumped into on opposite ends of the map.

I'm playing a Juggernaut and with the warzones rarely popping anything other than Huttball it's starting to get frustrating. That map is golden for ranged classes. Don't get me started on on the almost non existant CC immunity too! So many times ive been used as a ping pong ball, force leap onto some unsuspecting caster only to be bounced just before i get there then bounced twice again without even landing lol.

so, as someone that came from Ultima and then SWG how would this measure up?

I do miss the SWG days, yes it was a buggy mess but it was still great fun.

As much as I want this, after reading the last few comments it's not looking great. Looks like I might just keep my eyes open for someone selling their origin account and game and get it cheap + a month sub :S

yea every class has atleast 1 cc and knockback its a bit of a joke, especially when you can be knocked off the edge of the map etc

Letting the 30 days run out for me. Dare I say im going to look at a panda? I dont know, like someone said before its like playing KOTOR3 with other people also playing your character at different stages... doesnt feel like an MMO at all.

If you want a game with great story and a great multiplayer RPG star wars experience, get this game.

If you want a MMO star wars game, i wouldn't get this game.

Surprised to see negative feedback in this uh...mass-love fest. :P

I have an interest in stuff like this, so whilst I don't play it (tried beta, wasnt for me), I didnt get to try...more of the game.

Why does PVP/BG suck?

Ouch, I remember you being a large defender of this game, but...damn, that far off the tracks?

Thing is, I believe that when you remove the "mass multiplayer" aspect of a traditional MMORPG...they tend to be pretty cruddy games. The mechanics of an MMORPG without any multiplayer aspect is poor. And..well, I wouldget bored; even with mp, in most MMO's I still get bored. Its stuff like DCUO, EVE etc that hold my attention.

lol I said what he just did ages ago and since then he been dogging my posts, and reporting me to swtor (during beta) now he says what I did well maybe 80/100 pages back lmao
