Watch expert advice please

My wife has very kindly offered to buy me a watch for my birthday/Christmas. In a high street jewelers, is there a rule of thumb as such in terms of the discount you can negotiate? Is 20% or more out of the question on an Omega or Oris for example?

My other half bought me an Omega from the high street. She's not one for haggling by any means and just asked if they offered dicount as she has seen the watch cheaper on the internet - instant 20%.
