The law, morality and what is deemed "ok"

So why is breaking the law seen as wrong?

Breaking the laws set by society by definition is deemed wrong by that society......the moment breaking a law is deemed to no longer be wrong, or at least accpetable, the law becomes anachronistic and as a rule, in practice it gets repealed.

Laws are only as strong as the society that enforces them decide them to be.

In the case of growing weed at home for personal use, you are breaking the law, but your actions won't have any impact on anyone else, thus the thing about the law protecting others is void.

I edited my previous post.

Not necessarily. The law also protects the individual....there are philosophical arguments to be had over the balance between the rights of the individual and the rights of society to impose on the liberty of that individual for the perceived benefit of the individual and society as a whole, but I don't think that is quite what you are attempting to do here.

Refer to above statement

But the person who is growing their own weed isn't harming anyone else except themself unless they are been silly by driving for example under the influence.

Theres too many confusing statements floating about by the Government and it's confusing the hell out of the public. I suppose it boils down to what people beleive who opens their mouth, who gets caught e.t.c.

I hide a lot of things and have done for the last xxx amount of years. Won't go saying what but it has nothing to do with the law as I'm not harming anyone else not even myself.

Actually, about the weed growing. If you were to grow a few plant pots and have a medical condition your more likely to get away with it and nothing serious will come about of it. Possiby just taken away from you and a slapped hand.

It's the ones who grow it in their attic for sale who will face the bigger consequences here and the public requires to be safe from it.

There was an article I read about a grandmother who was putting it in her tea (the drink lol) and smoking it. I don't think she got a prison sentence, in fact I don't know what happned to her, but they basically said that she had to stop because whilst high she was not able to suffiently act as a guardian to her grandkids

Alcohol can improve your reaction time.

I wish I could remember the ITV documentary shown a couple of years ago.
The Presenter was put in a car fitted with gizmo's that followed every movement & reaction including where his eyes were looking.
He was sent around the driving course with obstacles put in his way and he did OK.
He then had one shot of whiskey, drove the course again and already his reaction time had slowed down.
After each lap he had another shot up until about 8 shots and each time he got worse.
They put about 8 volunteers through the same test who all claimed they had great reaction times on alcohol and all acted like the Presenter.

There was something about a grandma making marujuana pie. It was for medical conditions and proven and the TV show said she got away with it.

That was it

Is everyone ready for another controversial question?

Question 6
Removing all of the drug and pimp related problems asssociated with it, should prostitution be legal in the UK?

Question 6

Prostituion happens behind closed doors. Infact a lot more than people think. The reason people do it behind closed doors is because they know prostition is infact fround upon and illegal.

I think it should be legalised but ensured that a safe environment is there.

Again, it comes back to been safe and to ensure the public is doing things by the book.

Prostitution is legal in this country.

Solicitation is not.

I went to amsterdam in November, wandered through the Red Light District, saw a few nice looking girls, but then something caught my attention, one of the lasses was pregnant, now I know some guys have that sort of fettish, but aside from the fact she looked about 15, would you not stop if you were pregnant, the fact its a legitamate job over there would it not be better to go on the dole for 9 months, have the kid, then "go back to work" lol

You don't remember the Presenter do you, it definitely wasn't Alistair Stewart?
I'd love to see that documentary again.

Also in the same programme thay had about 8 volunteers in a pub and asked them what they had been drinking.
One lad (I think it was LucidLogix®) claimed he had 7 pints and was nowhere near drunk but when tested he was way over and argued the toss about it.
Meanwhile a woman who had about 10 Bacardi & Rums said she would be well over because she felt very drunk and when tested she was only 12ml (35ml fail) showing how different bodies absorb alcohol differently HOWEVER all of them failed the reaction time test.

No idea who the presenter was but I remember the program.

They have shops but like Raymond says, but they're illegal, they're called Brothels lol.

Dogging is much cheaper anyway
