Any WWII flight sims on the horizon?

Theres two I know of - world of planes and world of warplanes.

WOP is by the wings of prey guys, WOWP is by the world of tanks people.

You can apply to be in the beta for world of planes now, its in closed beta right now I believe.
 
If you want something you can play now try Rise of Flight.

Its WW1 but its the best sim going atm. F2P now too although I don't know how limited it is.
 
Interesting, thanks Eames. Out of interest, whatever happened to that Battle of Britain simulator that there was a lot of talk about? Some years ago now, looks like there were (are) two different ones? I find it quite confusing. Storm of War and/or Cliffs of Dover - what's going on there?

Cheers Dano, that's probably more what I was looking at. I've got a reasonable pc I think, i5 @ 4ghz and 8gb ram, with a nvidia 480.

I don't have a stick at the moment however, and that's something I will really need to invest in if I want to get back into sims. I've been out of the loop for such a long time.

Ah yes, Rise of Flight. I think my mate has a copy of this. Says the detail is amazing but it's very difficult. Will have to make a shortlist.

Think your pc should be ok with CoD, you will need to turn some settings down and put up with the dust/clouds bug we currently have, a new gfx engine re-write is in the works which will apparently significantly increase performance.
 
Both WOP and WOWP look like great fun nevertheless. I hope WOWP turns out to be a modern Air Attack :) WOP looks more like Aces High perhaps.
 
Rise of Flight is free but limited to 1 plane for the Allies / 1 for the Germans.

The only cost is buying additional planes which (when on sale) can be fairly cheap.

Agree with the above though, its rather difficult for newcomers, veterans of IL2 wont find it too bad though. If theres two of you and 1 can fly then buy one of the planes with the rear gun, me and my friend do really well like that and its good fun!

Community seems really friendly online as well, which is always kinda nice.

AirAttack that brings back some great memories,... beta tested the original Fighter Ace for the old Microsoft Zone in 1996.

Firebar,... do you remember the squad the "Aces" in AirAttack, has some great times.

I certainly do! I was in the 336th and 1st BFCS - I may be recalling the squadron names wrong there ;)
