AMD could be preparing Bulldozer based Phenom II X8 chips

That looks like a typo, he will have meant X6.
This will unfortunately be AMD's way of flogging the crap Bulldozer chips, those with faulty L3 cache and poor clockers. Bulldozer's L3 is in 4x2MB chunks so it's likely these will have 4MB or even 6MB L3 instead of it being disabled altogether, just as well really given how horrid BD would perform without any L3.
looking at it again yeah it seems it's a typo.
but if this is true amd has lost the plot. amd is going down hill.

But it won't be based on what we know as Phenom II.
If it was a true Phenom II X8, it'd be better than the FX8120 etc.
hence why i said if this is true amd has lost the plot. and amd is going down hill.

Which is why I mentioned Athlon II's being branded as Phenom II's, that AMD have been sketchy in the past.
what the hell...? why is a thread like this appearing on every single forum in the known universe. Stars is being phased out, there is no more processors being based on 'Stars' architecture, its Bulldozer then Piledriver from here onwards.
