BF3 PS3 vs PC

I'm thinking of getting BF3 on PS because my GTX460 is not very good and a new GPU is more expensive than a PS3.

Anyone here playing BF3 on both platforms? What are the differences, and do you think PC version is better, or the other way around?

Control method is the obvious one and for fps the pc wins hands down.

You'd prolly need to run the game on medium with your card though but tbh it'll hardly look ugly and probably still a bit better than the PS3 due to the higher resolution.
 
Your GTX460 is not very good is not a very good reason to get a console for one game.

I find BF3 very playable on a 5770, and people play on 460s quite well.

yup you can do ulta in the single player campaign if your fine with 35fps but online you need to drop the settings to high to have a truely playable framerate.

i run with a mix of high and medium purely because its easier to spot people with some of the graphics settings toned down a bit, you can hit around 40-50fps with everything on high and 2x aa , drop a couple of options you wont even notice to medium and you can easily hit a solid 60
 
i bought it on both pc and ps3 on release..

i cant play it on the ps3 as the graphics are quite abit worse and im a sniper and i find it near impossible to snipe on the ps3 due to the graphics si i cant spot people..

plus after spending so much time on the pc im proper hopeless with the pad i cant aim for nowt...

The PC version is definitely better. It has no drawbacks. The PC version has better graphics, 64 player cap in MP and bigger maps.

With the PS3 version you are definitely playing 'BF3 lite'

However for somebody like me with a nearly 4 year old graphics card and a console, the outlay to play on the console is considerably less on the console vs the PC.

But having said that the PS3 version has 2 major drawbacks ATM.

1 input lag from the controller
2 VOIP comms problems.

Integrated comms is one of the consoles best selling points, and it doesn't work on the PS3 version of BF3.

If you do buy a console. Buy it on Xbox. But you have to consider whether you would rather upgrade your PC instead .....
 
My bro has BF3 on the XBOX and although nice looking, I notice poor AA and fps drops. I don't want to tell him though, as he is only 12 :) I am sure the PS3 will look similar
 
I have both, i really would advise against getting the PS3 version, the controls and graphics really let it down in the PS3 version, i only got it on the PS3 so i could play with a few mates that only have that version.
the PC version just feels so superior.

Oh come on now, for a console its superb! Mind, i did grow up on a megadrive :p

But when people above state you need to drop it down to high instead of ultra, in all fairness you probably wont notice it, i certainly didnt but i'm not super sensitive to graphical settings.
I wouldnt blame you if you got it on the ps3 though, but if you have buddies on either platform, i'd match them and play together :)
