Asus P8Z68-V vs Asus P8Z68-V Gen3?

I think I read that even non-Gen 3 boards, they will support IvyBridge CPU and will support the first PCI-E x16 slot at PCI-E 3.0 natively, so the question is...would I be better off to simply go with the Asus P8Z68-V rather than paying extra £28 price premium for Gen 3, if I am certain I won't be going multi-GPU set up?

Have you got a link to were you read this? It may persuade me to go for a cheaper none Gen3 board.
