Steam Christmas Sale 2011

Steam sales - a steaming pile of brown stuff.
Take Bastion for example. Nothing but colourful graphics and a narrator. Hardly a game to be honest. Look up the reviews and there's nothing put praise for it. Seriously, if anybody can call this game fun, they must be even more bored than bored.
Games these days = pretty graphics with no gameplay

RFG and RFA are both cheap as chips today so they are definately worth a blast for the price, even if you decide they are not for you. Just over £7 for both.

If I were to get one though, u'd say Guerilla? I'm also thinking about Bastion you see and would rather get that over both Red Factions

Armageddon is closer to M.E. than Guerrilla is. Arma is a good game, I just enjoyed Guerrilla more.

I really enjoyed Guerilla, definitely an underrated game. I wouldn't even have known about it if it hadn't came with Metro 2033.

I'm interested in Armageddon but like you say it's more linear and not open world. Still don't know whether to bother with it. I didn't get on with ME so it might be my cup of tea.

Guerilla was good fun but you can't really play like a guerilla fighter, sneaking around and doing hit n runs. Major complexes randomly rebuild all defensive positions the moment you leave and staying undetected is nearly impossible once you get to the bigger targets (and combined with the first, you can't chip away at them). Not to mention the constantly respawning enemies who know exactly where you are ><
Entertaining, but don't try the higher difficulties. Its just frustrating.

Picked up Bastion and Anomaly. Bulletstorm did seem interesting for the demo but I'm not that bothered about paying for than £5 for it.

For those like me who forgot it is worth pointing out that the Humble Bundle is a great deal and if you spend over $5.36 (under £4) you get Cave+ & Gratuitous Space Battles, and Humble Bundle #3: http://www.humblebundle.com/. All the games can be activated on Steam with zero issues. (I rounded up and went with $6 for charity which came to £3.97 via PayPal, which is a bargain price for all the great indie games you get even vs Steam sale prices.)

Thanks, didn't know you could get them that cheap, just got myself it :D

Also got Alice, Sonic and Bastion today, seems to be less and less good deals, hope GTA pack comes up soon

I'm still hoping that Deus Ex HR will turn up and am probably going to pick up DCS Warthog and Black Shark but I'll wait until the end just in case they turn up in the daily offers.

If anyone is buying the 4 pack of Worms Reloaded, I'd be happy to buy 1 of them.

Worms Reloaded single £4.49

Worms Reloaded 4 pack £15.28 = £3.28 per copy.

I like steam deals and all, but these days it's rare i see something that i haven't already got.

But i guess that's what happens after 3/4 years of steam sales.. :p

Is Sonic worth it at that price?

I'm surprised Steam doesn't have a demo up yet, but I've tried the 360 demo.

I personally wouldn't pay more than a couple of quid for this game. Maybe my expectations of a decent 3D Sonic game are too high but I found both modern and classic play styles quite dull and shallow.

The first Sonic game I bought after Sega retired the Dreamcast was Sonic Heroes for the Gamecube many years ago and that turned me off modern Sonic for good. The quality of modern Sonic games is apparently improving but I won't touch another Sonic game until it can match the satisfying physics and fun gameplay of the originals.

Terrible game mate. Splutters all over the shop. Cars handling is comical all for the wrong reasons and the social aspects of it are childish to say the least.

I have a friend who says it's great fun.. and my favourite racer in recent years was Burnout Paradise so hopefully wont be too disappointed. Was only £5 :p

Swear to God, Steam is just purposely trying to annoy me.

Nothing but stupid pieces of coal which aren't going to do anything because I never win anything.

Can I not have a voucher for once, for doing your silly achievements  :(
