Hi guys, I recently got myself a pair of Kave's but have been having quite a few little problems with them, namely the mic. Despite having every setting and boost option I can find turned to full I still come out as a whisper on every bit of chat software with my mates.

I've done a little digging around but can't decide if this is common standard for this headset or a fault with my product. Could any other Kave users give some info on this please? I bought them based on the glowing reviews they have on the site but so far I'm very underwhelmed. I also bought a Xonar DG to use with them if thats helpful.

Cheers :)

The Kave's are like marmite. Some people love them, and some people think they are a pile of crap.

I've read quite a few times that the Kave's have a rubbish mic.

Were you using onboard audio before, and did you have the mic gain set to max?

That's assuming your onboard audio has the option to. Majority of onboard audio is Realtek, which does have gain increase.

Does my onboard audio come into effect if I'm running the headphones through the Xonar DG? Sorry if it's a daft question, this is pretty much the first soundcard I've ever had in the years I've been using PC's. Before this I just settled for onboard sound but since my mobo is an old one (Asus P5Q3) and doesnt support 5.1 I invested in a cheap Xonar.

Did you uninstall the onboard sound drivers, and disable the onboard sound in the bios. Before installing the DG.

I didn't. I had a look in bios to see if there was an option to disable onboard sound but I couldnt find one. I'm not the most experienced guy when it comes to bios stuff though. This was after fitting the soundcard and installing the drivers though.

I don't have any seperate piece of software installed for my onboard sound like Realtek.

I'll uninstall and remove the DG and start again tomorrow but would problems like that affect the mic quality alone?

Cheers for the suggestions :)

Shouldnt. But you never know. Uninstall the DG drivers, remove the card.

Uninstall the onboard drivers, should be in the control panel - programs and features.

Then go into your bios and find the onboard sound, your on a 775 socket (I think). It should be in with usb settings Im sure of it.

Once you have found it (try google if you cant) I have downloaded your manual and its in the advance part of your bios its called High Definition Audio [Enabled] make it disabled.

Then reboot, just to make sure its not in your device manager. Shut down install card, then drivers then you should be done.
