Has anyone got any advice on the ease of attaching say, a 620, to the already existing rear fans on the back on an Antec 1200? I'm thinking it'd be a nice way to cool my new 2500k, wouldn't break the bank and seems to be highly marked in reviews...

I have seen some people removing the back fans and attempting to mount the double rad H100, but it didn't fit right, and someone else removing the top fan and doing the same....

I'd rather just add to what I've got already as I like to use the switches on the back of the case to change the amount of noise coming out...

Thanks in advance!

Its really easy to do mate, i removed my antec 1200 fans and replaced them, Some for the h80 i put in, but i also changed the back fans for quieter ones. Really simple. And if you keep the 1200 on low its quiet

I would only recommend the 620 if you were tight on space inside your case which seeing as you have a 1200 shouldn't be a problem. As such, I'd get a proper tower cooler for the same price which will end up not only better but also quieter without having to resort to changing the stock fans.

+1 to this, the 1200 has so much brute power in terns of air flow which which really benifit the air cooler as aposed to the very thin rad of the 620

Yeah, I think I read reviews which didn't really favour the 620 against the larger powerhouse air coolers IIRC but then again they've got a bit more on their price tag?

well atm, I've got an old Zalman CPS9700NT that I've bought a new bracket for, and I think I put too much paste in on christmas day, so I'm thinking of re-seating, but was wondering about the kuhlers because I figured I could get away with the 620 and use the stock case fan to push/pull.

bought a 620 and im starting to regret it my i5 2500k at 4.5Ghz with 1.37v reaches 75-80C in a 5run IBT. I had to use stock settings because of this idk if its the actual cooler or my case (icute case from local shop). I even reseated it with mx-4 and still the same.

Im now thinking of using my 9700 like yours to see if it will be better

I have my i5 at 4.4 with 1.35v and 5 run with IBT is showing 58-59oC on core 1 and core 2,3 & 4 are on 68oC...

I have just put a new Gentle Typhoon 1850 on the back to replace the original Antec one... Cant hear it at all and its dropped my temps by a good few degrees...

Well impressed with my little 620 Khuler.....

ugh  maybe its my case since im limited to 1 intake fan in the front only. Looks like i have to invest on a new case. How many intakes do u have on ur 500r?

As standard 3, 2 120mm and a single 200mm, though I have my h80 set as intake too with two 140mm fans in the top exhausting. Temps over my old nzxt gamma were a big improvement, roughly 8c better on CPU and 12c better on gpu.

I have the 920 in my 1200 case I just removed the rear fans and used the two which came supplied with my Khuler in push/pull config out of the case (hot air blown out of the case). I am over clocked to 4GHz on my i7 930 and have temps about 35-40 degrees on idle.

Remember idle temperatures don't mean much. Load temperatures are far more insightful as to the effectiveness of a cooler.
