Seeing as though conventional wisdom says there is pretty much no difference when it comes to speed and timings for a 2700k which would you choose?

Personally I'd go for the cheaper one with more emphasis on quantity, that being if I can get 8Gb of 1600Mhz stuff for the same price as 4Gb 1866Mhz stuff, I'd take the 8Gb.

There are others more informed than I, so hopefully someone will steer you in the right direction?

Already got the memory, 16GB of corsair and it happily runs either. Just wondering what settings to leave it on.

Voltages look pretty healthy, 1.51something for the 1866 and 1.4 for 1600. Reading through those links looks as if it really is irrelevant. Doubt I'd know without checking.

So, thanks for the links. Was interesting having a read through.

Corsair LP white low voltage if anybody wants a recommendation.

Just out of interest, which motherboard are you using?

I had no end of problems with my Corsair LP white low voltage ram.

Asus Maximus IV Extreme P67 version. Got 2 8GB kits so was expecting to have to make a compromise somewhere but it was fine. Even at 1.35 managed to change from default 2T to 1T. Tried it with my offset 4.4 and 5.1 OC profiles and didn't have to adjust any of the CPU settings which was a bonus.

Ah ok, I have the Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3. I could not get the ram to work with it at all, not even at 1333mhz. It would pass all memory tests fine.. but then randomly crash, it would then not post for several attempts. It used to crash almost instantly playing football manager 2012

There is also another guy on the corsair forums who has built 4 machines with gigabyte z68 motherboards and the corsair low voltage ram. He could only get his running at 1333mhz and 1.45v otherwise he had the same problems as me on all 4 of his machines.

Corsair blamed the cpu and/or motherboard. Yes thats on 5 different machines

Running great with Crucial Tactical Tracers now though!

Funnily enough, it was the tactical tracers thread that made me look at upgrading the memory. Thought I'd try the LV stuff to take a bit of load off the IMC and ended up at 1.5v anyway.

Gigabyte seem to have gone off the boil a bit this year which is a shame.

They were all for his own use I believe. But it is hard to test for, my machine can be stable for 24 hours with that ram and then just die a couple of times the next day.

Wasted about 3 weeks myself trying different settings and then just waiting for it to die.. finally gave up once I found someone else with the same problem and i've had zero problems with my crucial
