I'm considering trading in the Mini for a TT 3.2 and was wondering what sort of insulting price to expect.

Webuyanycar offers £5925 but the free Glasses only values my car at £4,231.00 - £5,350.00 which seems weird at WBAC usually offer peanuts so I would've thought that the valuations would be the other way around.

If anyone has CAP/Glasses handy could you check the value on. 2006 (56) Cooper S with Chili pack, leather Recaros on 28k (full BMW history, perfect condition etc)

Cheers

I would consider a 2.0T instead. I am normally a 4 cylinders bad 6 best guy but the 3 2 in the TT drinks like a fish given its power output, probably why they ended up dumping it.

I also have 2 motorbikes which means that my car mileage is probably less than 7000 per year so the economy doesn't really bother me. The 3.2 comes with a higher standard spec than the normal 2.0 and cheaper to buy too.

I'm not decided whether to do it yet, I'm quite happy with the Mini as it fits my needs so it depends on how much extra it would cost to trade up whether it's worth it or not.

335i is miles better but buying the BMW warranty is essential.

Is the TTS in budget? I was half tempted for a while but they were all £27k back when I was buying.

I don't really want to spend too much on something that I don't use a great deal, got other things I'd rather spend the money on tbh. Budget is maybe £15k so nowhere near a TTS.
What sort of things go wrong on the 335? Is it likely to self destruct?

Injectors, turbos, high pressure fuel pump is a big design flaw on them. Its almost all engine related.

If you dont use it much I'm not sure I see the point. It's more of an everyday car.

That's Novembers CAP.

For some reason my CAP hasn't renewed and there's no one at CAP office.

But it lost £75 between Oct and Nov but gained £225 Sept to Oct so no idea which way it went for Dec.

Guide price seems very high tho!

Maz, can you do me a valuation on my Alfa GT?

I've had a dealer quote 3k but want to see what your CAP says.

06 reg Alfa GT 1.9JTDm 126k miles

I'll have a look tomorrow when I'm back at work.

Sounds about right without checking, but will confirm tomorrow.

So if I was to trade the Mini against a £15k TT the dealer should be offering me around £8k as a trade in? Is it as simple as them looking up in CAP and giving me that figure?

All that matters when trading in is cost to change.

Not trade in value nor purchase price as one of these can be adjusted in favour of the other..

Those figures seem high to me.

Just who the hell would pay £9500 for a 6 yr old Cooper S?

Minis have always held their values pretty well, especially good ones with decent options. (mine has Chilli pack - xenon, air con and all that, heated leather Recaros, low mileage etc)
It might be because it's the very last of the supercharged ones, dunno? The turbo ones afterwards were more refined but not as much fun. I test drove both back to back and the supercharged one was way better IMO.

Anyway, haven't decided what to do yet. Might contact a few dealers to see what they say, if they take the **** I will quite happily keep the Mini. If they offer me a decent trade in then I could be persuaded to change.

The trade in price alone doesn't matter!

No good getting top trade in on an over-the-top priced car, also getting a low offer against a well priced car might work out a better deal.

Cost to change is the only number that matters. Most people ignore this and give dealers another way to do them on the deal.

not always, when I looked at the Cayman R they offered me £13k but tried to justify tat by using the cost to change argument in that he was taking £3500 off the price of the R, when I enquired about the price without p/ex it was still £3.5k off so the cost to change argument did not hold water

Because it was just an excuse that's why.

Doesn't change the fact that when you have a trade in, cost to change is what matters as that's what you pay!
