Hi there

Struggling for time today guys, but here is a couple of 3D Mark benchmarks with Tri-Crossfire in 3D Mark 11 & Vantage:-

Any good guys? :D

Yes, but let's be honest. Who's going to plump for tri-fire on these? The target market is those who game at 2560 x 1600, and unfortunately the performance increase over GTX 580's (at least in BF3) isn't enough to warrant it, *UNLESS* AMD price them competitively, which you've already indicated AMD aren't going to do Gibbo.

49.7fps on the 7970 versus 44fps on the GTX 580 says it all really, at least for this game. If Nvidia drop prices of GTX 580 that's going to swiftly kick AMD in the nuts, at least for people buying hardware expressly for this title anyway.

Around a 5 or 6 FPS difference over a 380 (1.5 or 3gb?) doesn't really seem to justify the projected pricing levels. Looking at the 6990 which my local PC shop has listed at £550 would seem to be a much better bet. If I wanted to spend over £300, which I don't.

I do imagine however that these cards will do amazingly well in the super computing realm, bitcoin, folding@home, Chinese super computers etc AMD utterly destroy Nvidea here, this doesn't help gamers ofcourse.

According to the BF3 performance thread on here the 7970's (single or dual) are edged out by a 580 3GB!
