Evening. My brother Bought an acer laptop from a well know pc shop. 1 st problem faulty hard drive. Wait 20 days I get it back and it's only showing 776mb available of 3gb mem. I try everything, new install, check bios ect but come to the conclusion of a hardware fault as it was working before I sent it for repair first time around.
I take it back and mr purple says to me oh I see you have been going online without anti virus. This can cause you too lose 2gb of ram. All his friends agreed.
I had to then show him how to get to the process manager to check the memory usage to which he said its ok windows is using 355mb out of the 776mb it's pretty good.
Was shocked how they could say this as 99% of people would have just took his word for it. I eventually got a so called manager over and explained how it should be done.
I feel a complaint being written, will it get me anywhere?
How thy operate as a company is beyond me.

Not very fair to be honest. They couldv'e been the best price.
Since when is best price the only thing to consider? Bought several things from Ocuk that i could have gotten cheaper elsewhere, but knowing they will turn up on time with good customer service to back it up is worth the extra pennies.

In all fairness if he wanted a laptop there are not that many options. Overclockers don't sell a great range - not knocking them, they deal with components mainly.

Bought all my laptops from the purple people, albeit without issues, but least they are a physical presence if something does go wrong. Most online sources are probably not much better and potentially more difficult to deal with.

What was the final outcome anyway? Was memory faulty/missing?

They are sending it off to be looked at. What will come back who knows

I would have thought Tablets are a bigger seller than Laptops??
