*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Still can't decide if this is worth getting?

Played Aion, STO and rift and keep going back to Wow as it never bored me, is there much point me trying it?

This game is so much better than the first 3 you mentioned, they are so different they could almost be on a different planet! hey wait a minute they are :p

I think so. Going to get slated for saying it but, it is a bit of a wow clone, so you will feel quite at home with most of the classes, stats, abilities, resources, pvp etc

The real question is, did you play/like KOTOR 1 & 2?

So it's got good story driven PvE that can be solo'd?

See that and good instances and raids are what I like, though I never played wow enough to get into a good guild so I join random groups and have enough fun that way. Is there that sort of thing in TOR? And what is Pvp like?

Loved KOTOR 1 btw (never bothered playing 2).

Sorry I haven't been following this thread from the start but I have started reading it and reviews, just can't make up my mind.

This has more of a DAoC feel to the classes to me.

just had an email through from my old SWG guild, looks like the admin kept the email address and is trying to get everyone back on.

I'll definitely be looking at getting a cheap copy once the missus returns the 360 games I had for xmas that I already own :D

Says they are one the Trayus Academy server under MDU :D

It's far from a single player experience, seriously. You're doing it wrong.

I have to agree with this.

I met a few good people while levelling, and we just made our own guild this evening. Got two people saying they liked the name, and could they join up. We're doing some flashpoints over the weekend. I've also done plenty of group story questing. The group conversations are always fun. I get shouted at when everyone wants to go dark side, and I'm feeling kind, pick light side, and win the roll :D

Even the instancing hasn't affected me negatively. I played WoW for two months, and never saw a soul while levelling, so that argument holds no weight with me. The social hubs haven't got that many people in them yet, but that's because everyone's busy levelling, and exploring the game. Go to Orgrimmar in WoW, and so many of the players are level 85 with awe inspiring dragon mounts, and the best armour possible. Give this game time. It's only been out 11 days.

If any of you find yourselves on the Goluud Corridor server, Empire side, give me a shout in game (Silas), and I'll be happy to throw an invite your way, or message one of the officers; Nalice, Nakola, or Sheaa. Guild name is Let the Wookiee Win.

The running around on Nar Shaddaa is doing my head in. Can't wait untill I get a mount.

If you think it is bad there, wait until Tatooine or Alderaan - I feel quite sorry for people who haven't managed to get a mount by that time!

if you want a single player experience with minimal social interaction with anyone else sure

What are you smoking arknor? Minimal Social interaction? I am constantly chatting to the guild/general chat, running group content with the guild and randomers (many of whom on Frostclaw are really friendly), have joined/formed operations against world bosses - what about this is minimal interaction?

Just because you have decided NOT to interact with people, it doesn't mean that we all have and that the game lacks any interaction

There's your answer.
His server (One I'm on) is deathly empty and it shows Full most nights.
There's all on the opposite faction :(

It's what you make of it, I am almost always in groups (if needed) by asking in the great guild I am in (The Immortals) so its hatdly an excuse being on a "quiet" server.

That being said it is disapointing how unbalanced they have let some servers become. Why they don't enforce balance is beyond me.

Found my third datacron on Nar Shaddaa, but had to spend 20 minutes to go through the whole process. One or two people were curious as to why I was floating around one of the larger zones on some sort of floaty billboard thing. So worth it for +3 Aim though. :o I would try for the other 2, but I fancy moving on.

Nar Shaddaa looked quite cool when I arrived yesterday afternoon, however I was very glad to have nailed the Agent Story by 11pm. The running about did get very tedious towards the end, but one good thing did come of it. I has mount now! :D

The ending of the Nar Shaddaa story line ran in me into the first light-side choice I didn't like. All the more reason to be glad to be out of there.

If that's Niman I have to disagree. I was getting the being alone feeling for awhile but things have changed a lot. For a start I have started grouping with guildees more for questing and join in with general chat / pvp. I spent time yesterday pvping with the same few people who I got chatting too. Also had some world pvp on hoth where is was 7v6 in a cave.

As said the game is what you make it, if you don't group and talk you will feel alone. I'm loving it more and more the higher level I get
