Well, I suggest this for another thread, but I think it's probably applicable for you as well:
£225...

it would involve looking around for the best price, and also looking at 2nd hand parts as well unfortunately, and probably be a bit of bidding in auctions...

New parts:
Corsair CX430 V2: £38
Socket 1155 H61 motherboard: £40~£50

2nd hand parts:
i3 2100: £50~£65
6850: £80~£85
Socket 1155 P67 board £40~£50 (only if not getting the H61 board new)

Total= £208~£235
Since your budget is tiny bit higher, you might be able to get a 2nd hand 6870 instead of 6850, or stick with the 6850, and put the £15 extra toward a beefier PSU (i.e. a decent brand 550W) for future proofing a bit.

Yes good for the purpose but it doesn't allow overclocking
i3 2100 might not be able to overclock, but it is faster than overclocked Core2Quad, Phenom II X4/X6 on gaming in general due to SandyBridge much higher IPC and single-thread performance. The i3 2100 won't be any slower than overclocked i5 2500K with graphic card at GTX580 level and below, unless we are talking about CPU demanding 2 core games like Skyrim or one core game like WOW.

It's easy to criticise "oh, but it doesn't overclock", but unless you are gonna send the OP a £100 cheque, I don't see remark like that being helpful in anyway, when reality is restricted by budget.

it wasn't meant in the way you are suggesting. In response to the question:

Yes it is a good board for the purpose and price point. The board won't allow for overclocking
