Hey guys, probably a really simple answer to this but the other day I used the OcUK forum search funtion above to search for threads that I have created since joining the forums.

Strangley, when I search under my username (neoglow) as the author (search by username and change to find threads started by user), it only finds threads Ive made recently. Ive made loads of threads in the past, over a number of years.

I rechecked tonight as I thought it may just be a temp issue but I still cant find all my threads. I just wanted to check back to some old threads I created 6 months - year ago to see what replies I got and if I missed anything.

Anyone want to test it? Search for threads made by me, see what you find?

Any ideas?

Have you recently had your user name changed?

Doesn't make any difference, as it changes the user name in all old posts.

The search feature is very buggy. Seems to find some stuff and not others, playing around with the date option you can find extras. But there doesn't seem to be any logic with it.

Nope, Ive always had this username.

I checked in the search settings, you can go up to a year ago or less.

Ah right.

Well OP, what you can do is go on your profile, click Statistics, then you'll find a link to all threads posted by yourself.

Ah ha, that worked. I wonder why it works that way but not through the search function?!?

Thanks guys and gals.

Or if you select the Find Posts From "a year ago" plus "and older" options then you should see a list stretching back a few years in your case. The settings must have been altered for search at some point because it used to say Find Posts From "the beginning".

Another easy option is to click on your username, the little drop down menu appears and you will see a "find all posts by neoglow", have a quick run through the pages to see which threads have been started by you - this only works if you don't have lots of posts though, otherwise the above option is quicker.

The search function uses a full text engine called sphinx which is configured to return 500 results. When you do something like threads started though Vbulletin gets the results then applies the filter to them. So out of your last 500 posts that's how many matched the 'thread starter' filter.

The user cp search doesn't search full text - it just looks up your posts, so that shows them all.
