Just watched this for the second time this week to make sure my initial assessment was correct - absolutely one of the best films Ive seen in a long time...

Unfortunately I missed it at the cinema , but picked it up as a rental over the weekend - I just have nothing bad to say about it. Really would implore anyone to rent/buy it and enjoy...

[Possible Spoilers]
Great cast, Emma Thompson was perfect as the narrator, just had the intelligence, bitter wit and balls to pull it off the way she did it. Maggie Gyllenhaal, the love interest, is unconventially attractive (well I think shes hot) and worked well supporting Will (and is hot). Amazed how well Will Ferrell acted, I just hope he moves away from the dumbed down American comedies hes typecast for judging on this (leave it to Stiller and Sandler). I dont need to say anything about Hoffmann, just does what he does...

Loved the idea for the story and thought it would be a bugger to get right (an interactive narrator) but the way it played out just seemed so natural and fitted so well. There are no real plot holes just weaknesses which Im happy to gloss over (I wouldnt normally accept that a writer can directly influence anothers life as one of their characters). The GUI SFX was just the cherry on the cake - I for one, will look out for Mark Fosters (Director) and Zach Helms (Writer) work in the future...

I dont score films (dont see the point in trying to be objective on such a medium), so Id rather say its definitely worth a watch...

P.S. Did I say Maggie is hot? :p

ps3ud0

Yeah I enjoyed it - definitely different to the usual Hollywood fare. I didn't really like the ending (I can't actually remember how it ended now, but I remember thinking "...oh."), but it's difficult to end a story like that in a satisfying way. Definitely worth a rent tho.

Ooooooooooooooohh!!!

I completely forgot about this film! I love you! I saw the trailer at the cinema and thought 'I really want to see this'.

Thanks for reminding me ^_^

Just finished watching it. Absolutely brilliant. I love the ending, nearlly made me cry, but only because the narration is so good :)

Saw this about 2 months ago coming back from Washington on't Plain... The Wife kept moaning as I was 'Laughing too loud!' according to her!...

Thought it was a brilliant film!

Saw this a while back, was one of those films that i knew nothing about before seeing it and no real expectations but i thought it was absolutely superb and quite honestly the best film ive seen in ages. Im surprised that it had so little in terms of publicity and promotion, seems to have passed a lot of people by because they simply didnt hear about it or see any trailers.

Cant recommend it highly enough :) .

I thought this was an absolutely fantastic film. Easily the best film I've seen in a long long time. It's also made me cry more so than any other film.. I think you all know the bit that did. :(

Absolutely brilliant. Definitely worth a watch or two. :D

Oddly enough the only thing i can remember getting slightly watery/teary eyed was the Episode of Fututarama about Fry's dog. Its heartbreaking honestly! :) .

I'm quite a fan of Futurama, but I've never seen that episode. Heard plenty of people say how sad it is though. :(

Not sure I want to see it tbh. :p

Trust me mate you do - the episode transends the media its on - for a cartoon its surprisingly powerful...

Anyway glad to see so many forumites share my views on the film - and yes it did make me slightly teary :p;)

I'm going to resurrect this thread and profess my love for this film. Awesome acting, an innovative and complex story whilst being refreshingly different. Any other films like this people would recommend?

What are the chances that I watched this film last night, at the same time that somebody bumped this thread?

Great movie!
