Quality laptop at 300 pounds?

Indeed you could get one second hand, such as an older Thinkpad T series or an HP business class machine, or a Dell Latitude. Actualy you could probably get a new Dell Vostro (which aren't bad, but not as nice as Latitudes) for your budget at the Dell Outlet or at least close to it. By the time VAT is added on you will probably need circa 400 pounds for that.

You can easily buy a new laptop for 300 pounds, but when you say high quality I am taking that literally, you wont get quality machines for that, just plastic fantastic stuff ...which tbh would probably be fine.

I think I'd just like it to feel not to flimsy and flexy when typing and the screen give a decent display (graphics adapter aside and 15" is fine).
It's for my 81yr old mother in law and it is her first taste of computers in general. So hoped for something solid but low end for the budget - could probably stretch to £350.

Oh well I think a regular laptop would do just fine then. There are a lot of good deals around right now, something like the HP G6 series would do just fine, the purple shirted twirps have a red one for a very good price right now. Specifically it's the HP Pavilion g6-1210sa. That'd do the trick.

have a look at the HP Probooks 4320s or the likes, not the lightest but i picked mine up refurbished from HP for £320 ish with the 512mb graphics and core i3, £40 to crucial and i have 8gb of ram in it, its a powerfull beast now.

HP have a cashback offer on some basic business machines till the end of march which takes them to 300inc vat or thereabouts. They aren't amazing machines but probably slightly better spec than you will get with the consumer machines around that price that will be packing a B800 or something

I have a laptop, which i'm going to be listing on the mm, it was originally bought for my mother, but she doesn't like 15" laptops as she thinks she might drop them for some reason, so got her a 17" samsung instead.

would fit with your budget.
