money help/advice please.

I've worked out if i can sell my iphone 4, iphone 4s and ipad and my pc and maybe my car i could get around £2500 mark what can clear most of my overdraft off!. This is where i need some advice,

i'll give you some advice, you have just told us right there, why you are in debt. please work it out. i'm not having a go but this kind of stuff rile's me a little. you are spending beyond your means. you even make a point of pointing out that it is an iphone 4 2 of them!. now i could be jumping the gun here but couple that with a pc that is worth £1200 (second hand!) and an ipad it is quite clear you like your toys and you like them new and high spec can i ask why? you don't need them, you need a roof over your head and food on the table.

it's not really the wedding that's the problem, it's your attitude to spending. where the other £300 p/m is going, i don't know? do you get a lot of take out food or smoke etc? stuff that is easy to spend cash on but easily forgettable.

i may sound like i'm coming across as a little harsh but the facts are there, maybe you can't see them?

1. ask boss for a raise
2. send wife to work, even if only part time
3. cut unnecessary spending (tick)
4. sell everything you don't need

You'd struggle not to have this sorted by the end of the year.

Best advice I can give is to get rid of anything that isnt ESSENTIAL. Keep what is NEEDED to live.

Two iPhones...... I question why you'd need ONE of them things. Get rid of both of them and get yourself a nice reasonable phone.

Last but not least.... Try to consolidate everything!

I was in a state back in June 2008, we just did not have enough money to keep up with repayments on debts at all, back from when my wife gave birth in late 2003, having to buy nappies on credit cards and eating awful Iceland food.

I had to learn two things and that was to stop spending and to get help.

I made a call to http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/ who put me into a debt management plan with https://www.payplanplus.com

At that time we owed around £16,000 to a lot of different places, since that time I have paid £13,000 back and will be fully paid off on 27th Jan 2013 so only 13 more payments to go its such a relief.

Since that time we have never gone overdrawn, or missed a payment on anything, only thing I have missed out on is joining is the Police specials due to my money issue, which I was upset about but life moves on, and cannot wait for next year to arrive.

Get some help, from the right people and your get it sorted.

Why would the police be bothered by your money 'issues', just out of interest? I know you're a police officer by reading this thread, but why would they be bothered by your debt?

my total income for the month is £1946, my total outgoing is £1638 but for some reason there is never enough left over

£1638 isn't your total outgoings.

If you are running out of money they you are spending over £300 a month without knowing what you're spending it on.

Debt of any kind is always, ALWAYS manageable if you plan well. You can't plan for anything when £300 is walking out of your bank every month unaccounted for. Find out where you are losing it, and that's £3,600 paid off your debts in just one year.

Rich criminal finds out cop is struggling with money.

Rich criminal trys to bribe cop.

Cop more likely to take bribe.

Get rid of Sky/Virgin TV. Get rid of your mobile phone. Get rid of your PC. Reduce your weekly food bill shop. Wear an extra layer of clothing instead of putting the central heating on. Your spending way above your means and living the rich life. Your not rich.

Come on mate , it's not rocket science.

Edit: just read you have 2 iPhones and haven't sold them yet. You deserve everything you get. They should have been the 1st to go. Riles me up people with no money sense. <Deep Breathes> ...and relax

Hi guy's and girl's,

Well I've I've mananged get some stuff sorted now and I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel :).

What I have done; I have opened up a new bank account and got all my income coming into that and and only my main DD like gas, electricity and rent.
With my loans and overdraft I have set up a standing order of £30 to each of my creditors I owe money to, to start chipping away at it and freezed all my interest on my loans and overdraft so it can't go up any more. It going to take time to get it all payed off but I will now :).

For all that what happen I went to my local CAB who help write to my creditors sayin that this what I ca afford to pay you and they told me to open up a new bank account to have credit back in my account so I get shopping and pay for the main things so I can get through each month with out my money going and being taken off me to pay off my interest.

I will keep you update where I am each month as well.

Thanks everyone for all you advice and positive comments what help me see what was happing and things I didnt need in my life..
