Hi,

I've got a G27 due for delivery any day now, just wondering what games you guys would suggest for it?

Are games like grid or f1 2010 any good?

Thanks guys:)

Grid is awful with a wheel, but the rest of Codemasters' games from Dirt2 onwards have very good wheel support. NFS **** 1 and 2 really do take some messing around with the get anywhere near anything playable. SimBin games are great with a wheel, as is rFactor. If you have a PS3 then Gran Turismo 5 is also worth a look.

Just saying, nice buy man. These wheels can be picked up for £180 now (G27). They were just under £300 not so long ago.

Mine cost me £161 so hope to be very happy with it :)

I don't want to pay monthly for a game, so anything that you buy once I'll be happy with.

I already have LFS on the pc and gran turismo for the ps3 just looking to expand a little :)

This is a great website for beginners and experienced alike. It'll help you set your wheel up for the below games as well as giving hints and tips on how to get the best out of each game in terms of G27 feedback:

http://www.racedepartment.com/

I regularly play these games on my G27 and have not had any problems once it's set up. Remember not all games will feel the same, every one is different which is the correct way. IE Richard Burns has a completely different feel/feedback on the wheel compared to DiRT 3 despite them both being rally games.

Sims:
  • iRacing (requires subscription/is primarily online)
  • rFactor (with mods - see race department website)
  • Richard Burns Rally (with or without mods - see race department website)
  • Live for Speed (dated but works well with the G27)
  • GTR2 (Again, if you can find it cheap)
I tend to find these games fun with the G27 as well:

  • F1 2010 (race department has some good profile setups, essential)
  • F1 2011 (race department has some good profile setups, essential)
  • DiRT 3 (also ensure the profile is set up correctly)
  • GriD (also ensure the profile is set up correctly)

I can't stress enough how important it is to set up your profiler and in-game settings before fobbing the game off saying "it works crap with the G27" - all of the above titles work perfectly with the wheel once set up.

Niche market I guess? Not sure. Eitherway they were 149.99 a while ago from two places which is a lot more reasonable. They are still only £169.99 now from a couple of retailers.

I got lucky with a voucher and so had 50% off the logitech shop price which made it, what I believe or hope to be - really good value.

well if you dont like, im sure you could sell it.

iracing is pretty much the best sim out there, due to the laser scanning imo, everything else is good/very good, but the feel of the thing is amazing.

lfs feels good too, but different.
