G27 due for delivery - spec me some pc racing games?

iRacing is the best as far as sims go, but as mentioned the price.

netKar Pro is ok, feel/handling is great but the rest of the game seems a bit sketchy

LFS is ok, bit old now

rFactor can be very good if you spend eleventy-billion hours downloading mods/plugins etc, as stock it's shockingly bad.

C.A.R.S is very much alpha, and doesn't seem to be progressing particularly well into a decent sim, I wouldn't bother paying anything for it just yet

rFactor 2, not out yet, I think the beta entry is 'simply' buying the full game, gonna be interesting to see what it's like as stock.
 
Another game is "Kart Racing Pro" It feels the same as netkar pro, probably uses the same game engine. But its also just as sketchy, its very buggy.

cars is a good year from being a beta, its pre alpha right now, but you can still play it. theres a thread around somewhere with more info than i could tell you about it.

currently i would say the graphics are amazing, the feeling of bumps on the track is also amazing. however, the physics are far from finished. the best way i can explain it is like a broken alien weapon: you know that it has the potential to be stunningly good, but right now its just not working right. theyve got a year to fix it though so im really not worried about the 25 euros ive given them
 
GRID is just terrible on any wheel no matter how well setup imo - granted haven't tried the G27 with it but I've tried maybe half a dozen other wheels on 2 different PCs and steering is just like holding down left/right key however well setup more than the very slightest of movement on the wheel and the car spins out.

I like Test Drive Unlimited 2 for free roam/cruising - the races are lolworthy but they've implemented to scale both Hawaii and Ibiza in a remarkable level of detail and not completely inaccurately and some of the car implementations are nicely done to.

Turns out I should have paid more attention. Ordered a mouse at the same time and I only got the discount for having the free trial of metaboli :( Still it was good value compared to other places!

Very happy with it so far :)
