***OcUK Karting Meet - Saturday 10th March 2012***

I'm overweight so at a disadvantage when it comes to Karting. My amazing tekkers usually makes up for it but maybe not against other motor sport enthusiasts.

I'm used to racing sales guys and lawyers :(

Are we allowed to use our own helmets?

I will be driving a shonky ford focus :(

I would say weight won't be as big a factor at this place as at your normal indoor go karting places, that have ramps etc. They're normally under powered karts which can't move a light person up a hill, let alone a fatty. But this place is all flat and has decent karts so should be good!

Weight is still a big factor outdoors. Been to the same place twice, once 2 years ago when i weighed ~65kg, once this year when i weighed ~80kg. First time i was way faster than my dad and virtually even with a mate, this time even with my dad and mate was easily faster. Doubt that's a fluke :p Was much nearer the middle of the pack overall this time aswell.

Weight is a bigger differentiator than almost anything else with these pretty much no matter what the kart. You lose time after every single corner the heavier you are and there is absolutely nothing that you can do to mitigate it.

I'm not sure what I'll be by then! I was 18st, I'm now 15st10 and dropping all the time.

Hopefully I'll be under 15st and have half a chance of some competitive times!
