Which one? Kavos, Malia, Zante, Magaluf?

Hey there,

Planning a lads holiday for my birthday this summer, just don't know which desination to go to, what are your experiences at these places, and which is better than others etc?

Iv visited magaluf wilst staying in santa ponsa once or twice at a night time, seemed fairly good, but didn't really have a rite good look around.

This is a lads holiday of corse, going to be about 30-40 of us going, so need to make sure we go to the best place.

Iv heard once that zante or kavos can't remember which is really dirty on the beach and stuff? can anyone clarify the truth in this matter also, don't want to be staying in a rubbish dump lol.

Zante is awesome. Not been to any of the rest, but a few mates have been to Malia/Magaluf, but prefer Zante.

Think I'll be going back this year. Drinks are ridiculously cheap, around €4 for two large cocktails and 4 shots of whatever for example. Food takes a chunk of your money, but we went to restaurants a few times a day so that's probably why.

Get quadbikes and take a trip around the island and up the mountain. Just don't crash like I did and run out of money half way through from paying various damage fines. :o

There's also the White Party which was great fun.

Is there any reason why Ibiza isn't in your choices? For a lads holiday there is no where better imo. Closing parties in September are fantastic.
 
Only been to kavos, but that was awesome and I highly recommend it. I don't remember any dirty beaches

30-40 is an insane number, there was only 4 of us!
 
Zante is my vote, we spent a whole week there on the main strip, there's loads of bars there and you get loads of free drinks

Pretty much drinking from 9pm until 5am, sleep till 3pm, breakfast then drinking again lol

Go to the Green Frog and tell 'em you know Jay and Adam, you'll get a warm welcome and lots of free drinks and food
 
Done maga and kavos over the last few years - both had their upsides...I think for daytime lounging magaluf wins :) Kavos is 100% dead during the day on the strip :)
 
None of these places are going to be nice, you'll need to move a few resorts down if you want a nice relaxing holiday. The more lively places you have mentioned are absolutely horrific during the day but you'll have a good night out :)
 
Kavos was messy 10 years ago when I went, I dread to think what it's like these days. Be warned, locals loathe the Brits.

Magaluf would get my vote, enjoyed myself much more there.
 
Thanks for the replys, and yep 30 odd of us going, all aged between 20-30.

Zante with the quads sounds good, as ill be getting a bike of some sort anyway as im a biker lol.

some more questions would be, which has the nicest hotels for relaxing dur in the day? though ill be out every night clubbing, wouldnt want to be kept awake 24/7 would need a day of rest or a nice relaxing sun bathe etc.

also which is cheapest out of them all?

And ibiza, na not really one of my desired places no idea why, just don't fancy it, maybe another time.

What was it like, not that I have any intention of going back there now I'm in my 30s...

When I went during the day it was 18-30s stag tours up and down the strip, and people zipping about on hired mopeds riding badly. The beach was good however, and the gyro bar by the arcade at the bottom of the strip was awesome for eats. Not to mention Jurassic Park in the arcade. :D

By night you couldn't work 2 steps without having a hoarse voiced rep who looked utterly knackered feigning interest in you to drag you into a bar, enticing you with cough syrup shots and euro-techno. Once you'd actually found a decent bar however and got on it, the nights unfolded brilliantly, girls are all nice and friendly and atmospheres were pretty good.

Noted the local constabulary, and local folk had a zero tolerance for any horse play and we heard horror stories of people being dragged off to police stations and not seen for days, or worse into alleys for beatings...
 
30 - 40 lads on holiday. I'm not really a gambling man but I think you guys will do well on the STD roulette when you get there ;)

Well put it this way, we got talking to the owner, he asked if we'd ever worked behind a bar, we had so we said yes, next thing we know he had us working behind the bar all night, he said, give people whatever you want, no matter what they ask for, and help yourself to whatever you want, it was a crazy night.

Pretty much the exact same. Yes i like a good boys holiday but that place was aweful. Way too many people for the size on the place (tiny).
 
I've been to Magaluf. It's good if you want non-stop clubbing but for us it got a bit much. You come out of your hotel in the morning still hung-over and there are people sticking leaflets in your hands for nightclubs as thouugh it's already night time. They even chase you down the street. It was a amsuing for a day or two but gets a bit much.
 
Im probably one of the only people in my age group who cant stand those places, i really dont see the appeal of them. Much rather go to turkey for the scuba diving and other fun things to do there
