Crysis 2 and Call of Duty most pirated PC games of 2011

It really isn't. News and Marketing Media are always a sham, I remember reading how the new CoD was going to be so different and refreshing and it was the same old **** i've been playing since CoD4.
I also remember the same about the new Star Wars MMO, how it was going to be something that all MMOs would strive to be like and I played it and while it's a great game it's not anything to scream about.

So ask some real gamers that are playing it, post on a forum, its really not difficult to feel out a product before you make the purchase, giantbomb.com do some good quick looks and give unbiased opinions. The users here have never let me down either.

We're not going to agree on this obviously :)

I don't believe anyone can tell me if a game is good or if i'll like it apart from myself, theres been plenty of games over the years i've bought and absolutely hated but they've received great reviews.

When I say look at reviews I'm talking about REAL gamers on Youtube. People actually playing the game. Some people actually do FULL playthroughs, so yes in that sense it is the same as playing it yourself. If you cannot form an opinion on someone playing the game infront of you then I think you have a problem. You don't want to pay for the game either way.

Lets try putting something into google. I know skyrim.

You are seriously telling me out of all those videos you cannot decide whether or not you will want to buy this game?

Yea when i was young, at school etc i used to d/l the oddd thing...except then it was 56k and the files were in small .rar files that you would hope to snaffle 3.5mb or whatever before your phoneline got disconnected...

Nowadays i have money, i just buy the games i want.

And no i dont think that say all 3.5million d/ls of BF3 were lost sales but surely a percentage is, i.e if they could NOT get ther game any other way than buying it maybe 33% or even 25% of those downloaders relent and just buy it anyway, making dice an extra mill or so sales...

You should read a broad range of media avoiding the pr spin and aggregate yourself, you will find the good games rise to the top and make easy purchase decisions, to say you pirate games because of your specific personal tastes in my opinion is an excuse.

yeah because every review is completely impartial and true to life. Not to mention the whole idea of taste and whether or not the reviewer shares yours ...

yeah because their arent tens of magazines and hundreds of websites out their that review games..come on theres enough breath out there that tailor everyones tastes and its not particularly hard to find either. Its a dum excuse created to try and make people feel better about pirating.

How can you form an opinion on whether you'll like something through someone elses experience? You're asking me to front £40'ish on average on a gamble when I can download it, see if I like it then go out and buy it if I like it? I could list atleast 20 games i've download and absolutely loved and only a few I haven't and just deleted after an hours play.

Everything I say will be an excuse to you because you've made your opinion clear. I'm not here to change it nor will I argue over it :)
Yea I can seriously say from those videos I won't know if I'll like the game or not. One of the games i've always liked the look of was Oblivion, I bought that so many times and traded it in a day or two later cos I hated the way it felt and played (which someone else can't tell me).
When I saw the videos of Skyrim I took the gamble and bought it off steam and loved it, i've racked up about 240'ish hours on it just playing around and not even focusing on the main storyline yet.

Every review I found more or less said that the new CoD was really good, it's terrible.

Don't see the point in pirating a game on PC these days. I just wait a month or 2 after release and you can usually get most games for a tenner. :D

I buy all my games in the sales or a few months after release when the price generally takes a huge drop.
I watched something on an internet tv channel that said a lot of piracy was due to the initial price, most people they interviewed said they pirate the game when its new to play the single player and then buy it when it's cheaper for the multi player.

How can you form an opinion on whether you'll like something through someone elses experience?

You are watching the gameplay. You are sharing the experience, like I said what exactly are you missing out on? Being able to kill the rabbit yourself by clicking a button? There are enough videos to follow what ever style of play you like in something as open ended as skyrim.
Take something more generic like duke nukem forever, you know exactly how it is going to play with one 2 minute video.

It isn't a gamble if you use the resources available to you. Watch the gameplay, read the reviews. If you really want to be sure find someone that reviews games you have preivously played and if their opinion is similar to yours in general you know you can trust his/her experience.

Ok if you can honestly say you buy the game after downloading it then there really isn't a problem, just a really round about way of assessing a game.
The issue here is with people who don't buy the game even if they like it.

Well that's the only difference in our opinion then I guess, I wouldn't refuse to buy a game I liked due to the price (Hell £130 for the SWtOR CE was money well spent.)

I'd still never take another gamer's experience over my own.

I guess I'm the guy who goes up to the try before you buy in food stores and finishes off the plate :D

and thats true to a certain extent, personally I pay more attention to Giantbomb reviews as they are generally accruate. For example they summed up mw3 as this: Modern Warfare 3 feels split between the great excitement of its time-tested multiplayer and the feeling that this whole style of game has just gotten old.

now i played the last 4 cod games and knew that i had got tired with them which is why after reading the review(s) i knew it wasnt for me. People know what their general tastes are, people also know when they are tired with a francise and the review should finalise someones decision to purchase. This hand holding philosophy people are spouting really reeks of immaturity as discussed earlier.

Crysis 2 had a demo - and that still got pirated a lot? So whats going on there - GREED.

either way you look at it , saying reviews are inaccruate or wanting to demo is just rubbish flapping about in an attempt to justify an unworthy action.

I played Crysis 2 and did not pay for it. Bloody glad I didn't it was crap - The company who made it should have been fined for calling it Crysis as it was nothing like the first one!

Those who did not pay for BF3 are not missing much really - The only reason to do the single player is to get the unlocks for the multiplayer mode.

It's a damned shame that it doesn't take into account who bought the game after trying it out. :p

No way of ever finding out though really.
