Bridgestone RE050A 92Y Anyone have these?

Looking at getting these fitted this week, thought i'd better ask our regular Tyre experts their opinions.Anyone had these or have any experience of these tyres?

88Y is the load index and speed rating.

I was under the impression 050 was very average and that 050A was the one to have.

Sorry my mistake copy and pasted wrong bit it is the 050A 92Y.

RE050A do really handle great in the wet. On my Astra and my previous Vectra. Not a long wearing tire for sure but awesome grip.

I really love them, i've got them all round on my scooby and they're great.

I had a set of RE050's on my teg and absolutely loved them on that, infact i did have Eagle Asymmetricals then went back to RE050's and much preferred the feel of them to the goodyears even though the grip was the same or perhaps better with the goodyears i just felt far more confident in the teg with the 50's

Good when hot, bit crap cold and wet versus the RE050A.

What car?

Yeh sorry its a Focus ST at just over 300BHP

Sounds like quite a good deal for the money then. Will report my personal findings Thursday, thanks for all the help.

RE050 is a different tyre to 050A - the A is quite a lot better in the wet, the 050 is better when very very hot.

I think the RE050A is my favourite ever tyre, it seemingly suits how I like to drive.

I guess this depends on the car and whether you're talking about a run flat tyre or not. I have not been that impressed with the RE050A (91Y) run flat tyre on the E92. Although admittedly I do not have much/any reference point. Dry grip has been great, but they feel sketchy in the wet, however this could also be to do with the car/run flats combination. Theyve lasted well though.

Interesting. I've never used the runflats but for example on the Alfa I could really, really lean on them in the wet and in the S-Class they are pretty good as well. On the Mondeo they were also really good in the wet.

Perfect for British weather then :)

I found the S001s even better than the RE050A in the wet. Can full throttle in first gear in the wet no problem at VTEC point. The RE050As would sometimes spin up.

Makes sense that they are using a softer compound on the S001s though as the tyre wear seems higher (8,000 miles inc a track day on the last set of RE050As, the S001s have done 5k and probably have another 1-2k left on them from normal driving.
