*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Anyone on Niman Republic side interested in forming a PvP-centric Guild? I've always been a PvP lover, and so badly want a Guild that will answer the call to PvP whenever the need arises. I made the horrible mistake of rolling on a PvE server in WoW, so didn't get much world PvP, but have always PvPed since my UO days. Our Player Association in SWG was purely PvP focused, planet-hopping to take on the Imps whenever we could. We had some Guild events centred around Nightsister raids etc, but that was always second on the list to PvP. I've decided that I want to be in a Guild that's first and foremost for the PvP again. I have a couple of real life friends that feel the same way and so we're going to make a go of it if we can. Is anyone else up for that?

The issue on Frostclaw is that as Republic you rarely (if ever) only face 1 or 2 lvl50s in warzones, its usually the majority of the Empire team thats 50 and your lucky if the Republic team has 4 people over lvl40.

They really need to either have a lvl50 only bracket or put expertise (and probably a good amount of it) on the bolster buff for people under 50.

As a lvl50 it's actually kinda sad the damage i can do to a lowbie and thats as a tank spec Guardian. It's also very frustrating having your ability to complete daily quests and therefore progress your character crippled by people that don't even have access to the quests. Half the team may well be actually skilled PvP'ers but theres just nothing skill can do to counter geared lvl50s when your only lvl30.
Pretty much my experience this - on my servers the amount of L50's differs.

But each game pretty much = whoever has the most L50's wins.

Which is bad, because it should be skill based.

Huttball is the only one where lower levels stand a chance, because damage/defence isn't quite so important (as you can keep doing long passes/run off with the ball) - but it's worth noting that L50's by then usually have some basic tactics already on how to win & do actually go for the ball carrier (not always).

Me (L36ish tank) and a (L20 assassin) n managed to score 5 points against a team with lots of L50's, but thats because you can force push/knock them away/stun etc them into fire or into the poison etc.

The other matches require you to camp an area, so being L50 is a massive advantage & on my server huttball is the least played of all.

It's not always a massive problem, but enough to make it fustrating - it's also going to get worse & worse every single day.

I've re-read the comments... and I am indeed being an idiot lol :p Rage at work and forums are not a good combo :p

Off topic but i keep reading your name as ASDA and then thinking "what an odd username" and then slapping my arse to hear the change jingle!

ITS ASDA PRICE! :D

hehe well the username Adsta is a nickname I have had for years and years :p

I believe it was in a pub when one of my mate said come on its your round slapped my arse and said its adstas price. It just kind of stuck lol. So I tend to use the nickname as username for most things now.

Huttball's the one that pops the least on my server, but I think that's because I'm Republic, and the other 2 BG's need Rep vs Imp, Huttball can go Imp v Imp for anyone else queuing.

I've started to notice the facerolling more recently. I'm pretty good, but without a full skillset and half the level of the opposition I just can't maintain in a fight, burn all my energy too quickly and then I'm toast - or toast even if I get a little focus fire. I don't think the 50's are the issue though, it's the guild groups. Even 2 or 3 of the same guild on vent (or whatever) are a massive advantage against a team of lower randoms. Every BG's popping with at least 4-5 players in guild groups, ie a 2 & a 3, or a 4, or 5, if they play it smart on the capture the flags map there's just nothing you can do as invariably there's a healer who heals, and a DPS/tank who protects the healer.

Not complaining particularly, it's my choice to use the BG's as distractions when I level, and I'm still decently rewarded for playing them. However it's not particularly fair on the same 2-3 50 Reps I see when they're constantly put in with 5 under 30's against a couple of guild groups ;) And that's the issue, it might start spoiling their fun, then they roll Imp, and the balance gets worse.

So, I was PvPing a bit after rolling on Frostclaw (or possibly I was on Legions of Lettow...I forget now) in the early hours of the morning.

My god, the Sith there are useless! Maybe it was just the time of day, but on TOFN you'd still get a decent fight. Ended up topping the scoreboards at the end of the match with a Lvl 11 Trooper. :D To be fair though, the Republic randoms I was teamed up with were also scrubs. :p

I guess it remains to be seen what they play like at primetime later.

Have to say I do like Trooper. you're just like a wee normal soldier going up against glow-stick wielding magicians, and you get to smack them in the face with the butt of your rifle and show them how a real man fights.

Having rerolled from a server that had no lvl 50's to one with plenty (Frostclaw), PvP matches are a different kettle of fish, but still fun for lowbies like me. I suppose your definition of fun depends on whether your 'pro' or not. I ain't.

Personally I just try to ignore the scary high levels next to character pictures and get stuck in. This usually ends up badly, but every once you run up against a 50 who hasn't a clue, but for those that do, cover pulse can have humorous results! :D

Coming up against pre-mades is where I tend to groan and wait for the steam rolling, but you have that problem with or without level brackets.

Why don't you just put expertise on your own gear? Anyone from level 34 onwards can have a complete set of gear all with the expertise stat. Just buy a bunch of lightsabers from the PvP vendor, pull off the mods and put them on your armour. They throw commendations at you so it's not as though you have anything else to spend them on, when nearing 50 i had my 1000 merc and 1000 warzone but ended up with 370 pvp health posts and my companions fully geared in PvP gear because of the silly amount you gain.

I'm under the impression that Bounty Hunters make more money leveling up than everyone else due to what they do. Or at least this is what I've seen. My Sorcerer ended up with 300k at level 50 without speeder 2 or speeder 3, my friends BH had 700k and he had speeder 2 already. Just finished my own BH and had 1.1 million at 50 and had speeder 2 already.

Could be just bad money management on my Sorcerer, but I never see a skint Bounty Hunter.

Only time i've ever had money trouble on my Guardian was when i hit lvl25 and bought first mount and straight after buying everything (rank 3 mount training etc) at lvl50.

And no, i don't have slicing.

I can only assume your dieing a lot and having to pay repair bills.

Or your buying a lot from the GTN/Sending companions out on missions.

Getting geared up pretty well on the Assassin. I've made a few alts now though aswell a Sorcerer and an Operative which are also pretty damn good. :)

Maybe On my trooper which I havn't sold or done much with at 50 I got
120k atm but I have all skills, all the biochem patterns, Speeder 3, 2 Bank bays, and all but the 400k to buy on my backpack
