Is this a "Golden" 3930k chip?

Im on SP1

Is there something I need to do then?

Dont know why, its not being used.

Is this a fresh install of windows ? or have you moved it over to your new cpu from an older one. ( older one being a non AVX supported )

If AVX was being used then you should be getting 160 GFlops ish ( roughly double what you are getting )

You could try it, remove it first, then re-apply it.
Although a clean install would probably be the best way to go, you maybe missing all kinds of optimisations.

SP reinstalled also chucked in some more mem

is this looking better?

That looks better.
Still would have thought it'd be higher than that though, 115 ish is what you get from a 2500k @ ~4.5.

The figures are all over the place, which may indicate instability, although it may be something to do wit HT. Think I remember reading somewhere IBT doesn't like HT

Im just running one at the same time, prime was stopped, now when I run IBT - on its own, completes fast all levels apart from maximum which takes about 300 - 400 seconds per test "stage" within each test, so a run of 10 takes around 3000 - 4000 seconds.

The more memory you assign the bigger the problem and so the longer it takes to compute, it's the GFlops that is important... also a tip don't use maximum select custom and leave 10% of your memory free, the last thing you want is paging to virtual memory.
