Keeping fuel receipts

I suppose it's beneficial for business use, claiming back expenses and so forth but I can't see any benefit for personal use unless you want to add them all up to see total annual fuel expenditure. I always decline them.

I keep mine for claiming business expenses and checking credit card statements. The ones I need to keep for expenses get scanned and the paper copies shredded.

No, why would you?

We don't even need to keep them or vat recipts for work anymore on the fuel card. Haven't for about 3 years

I keep them else the door pockets, the ash tray and glove box would be empty voids :)

This thread has reminded me that I need to throw some away, you know out with the old etc...

Keep mine until I've driven a few miles, just on the off chance that there's dodgy petrol about.

On my previous car I used 50-70% commercially produced biodiesel from a local producer (from recycled cooking oil). Kept every receipt in those days but never had a fuel related problem (that wasn't present when I bought the thing anyway...).

I keep mine to claim back the VAT, though I really should look into getting a fuel card instead.

The only other reason I can think of is, incase dodgy fuel ever gets into your tank, like what happened with a supermarket a few years ago. Making a claim will much easier with a receipt.
