Gawd bless the USA!

This seems a pretty unremarkable story to me. She shot a guy who was carrying a knife, breaking into her house, and had a history of stalking her.

Very justified shooting.

intruder getting what he deserves?

if only the scrotes could be treated the same over here

lol?

Well, if the events are true then ok.

Still seems a bit 'American' though.

Precisely. I love just how American it is.

(Yes I fully support the woman, the man ****ed with the wrong person and got what was coming to him. Good stress relief for her after her husbands death).

Ok it was fair enough. Why did you pick the story when you can talk about Santorum who wants to ban homosexuality and abortions. Yet his wife had an abortion lol!

You could at least offer the option of gun v knife or **** off, but two against her and a child to concern with.. meh I can see the need I suppose.

I just think they need to calm down the state sponsored shooty shooty attitude a bit.

Fair enough. Did anyone expect her to offer him a milkshake. The bloke should have gone to a New Year's Eve party instead.

This is the crazy bit
Another man, 29-year-old Dustin Stewart, was allegedly with Martin at the time and ran away when he heard the gunshots. He has been charged with first-degree murder -- police allege he helped plan the robbery, ultimately making him responsible for Martin's death.

In my opinion he had crossed the line already. Two men + a knife trying to break in to a young mother and a three month old child is more than justifiable enough reason in my opinion to shoot on sight.

If they had gained entry, would they have afforded her any privileges?

Because you are allowed to shoot an intruder in your home?

Ooh, but how do the police know it's not a murder disguised as a break-in? She should have been arrested so they police could interview her and conduct a thorough investigation. She might have been a flight risk. Besides, it would have been in her best interests to have been arrested so she could get access to free legal representation. :)

How does that work? Does that mean under American law, if you plan to go speeding on the motorway with your friend. And you are involved in a RTA and your friend dies but not you, can you be charged with murder?

It won't work that way, but it should if you were to have equal logic across that legal system.
