RC Helicopters

Oh, and look at the Heliguy Atom FP for a small 4ch - £39.99 ;)

Wesley have you got one of these? im looking for something to fly indoors to keep me sharp

Huh? What's the 4th channel for then?

2-->4 channels helicopters generally use their channels for:-
1ch up/down
2ch rotate left/right
3ch forwards/backwards
4ch move left/right

I'm no expert, but I can't see any other way for the difference to work!?

This is correct, we are just pointing out that theres a lot more to it than just an extra channel, they fly in a different way.

lol no! not really. you have to work hard with controls to keep it hover. once you got it SPOT ON, then it'll hover with hands off for 5 secs, maybe 10 secs if you're luckly.

Sounds good, i'll get one of them, I cant fly my coax anymore as the controls are different i'd rather practise indoors with something that'll actually help me.

yeah they are very good indoor heli. you can set the heli in junior or senior mode, junior mode make the sticks responsive much slower so you can getting the heli in hover much easier. senior mode is fun

Quote is your friend!

agreed. v120d02 is very advanced micro heli.

you will struggle to learn how to do the basic control.

v120d02/blade mcpX and others are very useful for who want to practice/learn 3D moves indoor without big repair bills.

i find a bit funny when you said 120SR is 1 step above 3ch heli.

every 4 ch helis behaves very differently, but the control will be same (mode 2). 3ch is not. i stopped flying 3ch helis since i started 4ch helis cos of the controls are totally different.
its what people have been saying on teh rc forums some of which are very well known for their 3d flying, there was a thread
120sr or honeybee and the general consensus was the 120sr is great for learning forward flight , circles , figures of 8's etc but it wont teach you how to hover.

i understand the v120d02s wouldnt be easy , i havent advised anyone that they should consider it for a first heli i expressed my interest in one because they look so cool, seem extremely stable and theres a lot of videos of people purposely crashing them to show how durable they are.

i didnt buy the 120SR to learn, its a fun heli to fly around.

i have another 2 helis, they are harder to fly and difficult to hover.

it's all depends on what you want. you'll end up with 3 or 4 different helis lol

Here's my heli, she can surely haul some arse if I make her;

im seeing a lot of people prefering the turnigy 9x over the dx6i and its like 1/4 the price , a lot of people dont seem to trust it because of the price though lol, bet all the dx6is are made in china/taiwan anyway like most electronic stuff is

Anyone have any experience of the i.Helicopter which you can control with your iPod or iTouch for example?

Looking for a toy for my son, and he has an iTouch so wonder how good a buy that would be? Or to instead get the Syma S107G? The two are both low £20'ish.

Anyone?

get a syma 107g if it breaks you can easily get new motors etc.

one of the motors in mine died and i got a new one on the bay for 4quid, was simple to fit it aswell.

its a heli that wont break easily to ours has crashed loads of times and still works fine.

after the syma 107g is mastered and you get bored the next step up is a 4channel fixed pitch heli like http://www.heliguy.com/Electric-RC-Helicopters/Heliguy-Atom/Heliguy-Atom-FP/ or a honey bee v2 if your up for outdoor flying

Anyone know of any Mac based R/C sims - i have seen phoenix etc but the only win based machine i have is a laptop with c2d intel on board and a cracked screen - not ideal!!!

lol @ ebay..
the used DX6I's go for the same or more as they cost brand new...
apart from one on their atm with a broken button

some of the helis on there people expect to get back what they paid aswell.....

anyway aparrently you can get some really good deals on here http://www.bmfaclassifieds.co.uk/ but i bet they get snapped up fast

How much do these cost? :)

Also, is it okay for indoor / outdoor use?

I'd like one that isn't too cheap but not majorly expensive so if it breaks im not completely out of pocket

Ive been playing in the office with a mates, ive flown the easy 3ch choppers without any problems. Tried the single rotor RC ones and trying to take off was hard! Much more fun and a better challenge to play with.
Now to pick one up! =D

The shop I ordered the Solo Pro from has let me down, they offered me a Easycopter V4.5 Colibri PRO instead, hope I have done the right think going for this.

I did consider changing to the Blade MSR X instead but it's a bit more than I want to spend.

I have just ordered an HCW 537 4ch 2.4GHz heli for £20 delivered. It gets brilliant reviews on rcgroups and is considered there to be as easy as the S107G. It has a swashplate for the directional movements just like more expensive ones. Looking forward to getting it!
