***OcUK Karting Meet - Saturday 10th March 2012***

Weight will be a factor:
Every 5kg extra weight you carry is going to cost somewhere in the region of 0.1 - 0.2s per lap.

Rye house use pro karts, so they have 2 x ~5.5hp generator engines, but are relatively heavy. Indoor karts generally have a single 5-7hp engine. For comparison, something quick like a rotax/easykart has more like 35hp from a much more responsive 2 stroke engine and is significantly lighter yet even in those you aim to run as close to the weight limit as possible!

Unfortunately, you may also find there is a significant performance difference between the best and worst karts (over a second per lap from best to worst kart wouldn't be unusual). However, I would expect that the best drivers will still be at the front regardless of weight/kart.

Wet weather is a great leveller too - weight is much less of an issue (what you lose in acceleration you gain in grip), and a driver can more than make up for a poor kart.

You'll all have fun regardless - Rye is a good technical circuit and a race with 25 drivers of mixed abilities is always entertaining :)

I'm not sure what I'll be by then! I was 18st, I'm now 15st10 and dropping all the time.

Hopefully I'll be under 15st and have half a chance of some competitive times!

Good work on the weight loss :) - I was 17 stone in April. Keep at it!

Let's have a weigh off. I weigh 101kg. Can anyone trounce that?

Be prepared to look round and see this:

This thread is a constant reminder that I have to go to a family thing and not be awesome at karting simply by cutting down to 59kg on the day of the race.

I weigh 105.2 at present.

I was more! I'm getting married end of March so hope to be less by the time it comes around

I take it this is now booked so you'll need the final money before 17th Feb, which is £57?

Just I didn't see a post saying so and the OP isn't 100% obvious. :)

In what way is this:

IMPORTANT: The remaining balance of £57 must be transferred to me by Friday 17th February.

Not obvious?

Not really. Also no update post about it. I've been looking at the thread but not the OP itself for a while.

Don't tell me you're dropping out...... :p
Hell no! I'm just debating if I should allow you the 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% interest on the money now, or wait until closer to 17th. :p

Up to you, if you don't want to worry about it later then you can transfer it now :p

Pffft you're just too lazy to read the OP, nothing to do with women being vague!

So much money coming in and out of my accounts recently, my bank must be thinking wtf :p
