New Contract...Samsung Galaxy SII / Sensation / Other?

So you think the GS3 will be released around March/April? If so, i'll wait with buying the Nexus.

Considering the SGS2 was released around May it could be in q2 we'd see the next device, we may see it either at CES or the MWC in Barcelona.

Totally depends how Samsung want to play this out obviously it'll have ICS and possibly TW5, but when will they release ICS for the SGS2 rumoured around April, will they want to release it before or after the next gen phone?

Buy now sell later or buy a cheap phone and wait a few months.

Thought sod it, current phone is really getting on my ****, and ordered from Three. Got 7-day money back guarantee so if T-mobile ring me in the week and offer anything that surpasses it then I'll return it!

Right, so contract cancellation notice given, PAC code received and playing the waiting game...

I have just done this with 3, and they offered me sod all when they called me, all they wanted me to do was switched to sim only and then wait as theres better phones coming even when I told them what I wanted. Pee'd me right off as last upgrade they were amazing!

Phone arrived earlier on this week and only really got to play with it yesterday. Firstly great service from Affordible Mobiles! Order placed on Saturday Evening, delivery dispatch notice email on Monday and arrived via DPD next day delivery on Tuesday! Also received a free accessories pack with universal car charger, universal main charger, screen protectors, case and hands-free Bluetooth ear piece. Also £60 Quidco tracked but not confirmed yet!:)

As the the phone. Gorgeous screen and feels much snappier than my old HTC hero. Thanks very much for everyone who helped, definately feel I made the right choice with this one.

Now help me make the most of it please! :)

Rather than starting another thread I will just continue this one. I've been reading through the essential android apps & SGSII thread but it is just far to long and am getting lost in there, also most of it seems orientated towards flashing the ROM etc which I don't have a clue about. Read a few other threads and have downloaded some apps based on various peoples' advice but now I just want to consolidate it.

1. What can I do to remove the Samsung and three bloatware. Been through most of the menus and can't see any options to remove the things I don't need, such as Samsung Hub, 3MusicStore-widgets and crap like Monopoly Here etc etc!!

2. Antivirus - using 14 day free trial of lookout and will probably switch to the free version after as I don't need the backups. What else is out there? Don't mind paying (with in reason) but certainly not a monthly fee!

3. Advanced Task Killer (free) - using this at the minute to close unwanted apps but I find that a lot of applications open by themselves, such as gallery, fm radio, email, market etc etc. Is this slowing the phone down/eating battery unnecessarily? Will paid version or other task killer app automatically close these or even prevent them from opening?

4. Music - using PowerAMP. Happy with this. Other suggestions welcome.

5. 3G Data monitor - 3G Watchdog. Never used this before but installed on the advice of a thead in these forums. Seems OK and does the job.

6. Recommended other apps? :)

Again sorry for long post but thanks for all your help!

I would recommend getting GO launcher EX off the market to replace the TW launcher - much better looking and customisable. With that you can just hide the apps you don't want to see. There is no bloatware that slows the phone down - its just easier to hide the apps.

You don't need antivirus - get rid of that.

Use Samsung's built in task manager (hold the home button down) - advanced task killer is crap.

1 - id say flash a stock rom and that would be my choice -but you will "void" your warrianty by rooting to get access to flashing a new ROM

2 - you don't need it at all

3 - no need for it! android has a great task manager in its own os so you dont actually need to close any apps and just leave it be - when ever you close the apps it reopens them again and uses more battery, when the system needs more ram it will close the apps it self - i have never used app killers/managers and shiz like that, never needed tbh phone is fast no matter what i run on it.

4 - using powerAMP too but ubermusic is ok for simple/easy to use player

5 -using 3g watch dog too - had miui rom before and used their built in monitor app which was good too i don't think you can download it tho

Remove the anti virus as it's doing nothing, just don't download stuff that isn't official. Task killers are only there to shutdown broken apps, don't shut down background apps as you are not gaining anything and they are not taking power away from your precious device - anyone who says otherwise does not understand program states in Android OS. For the rest visit the android app thread.

Thanks for the suggestions so far everybody. AV & advanced task killer gone. Using green power now and the in built task killer. Seems to be working well.

Nooooo!!

Went to turn my phone on yesterday morning after it was left charging overnight and it wouldn't recognise the sim card, no network etc but everything else was working fine. Done a factory reset and still nothing. Spoke to three technical services who were useless and didn't have another unlocked phone to test the sim out so popped into my local three store where they tried one of theirs and still nothing?

Called up affordable mobiles last night and they arranged DPD next day courier to collect today.

Any idea why this may have happened or anybody heard this with the SGSII?

Worse is that my HTC Hero was sent to T-mobile for repairs just the day before so now I'm using some really terrible Nokia POS!:(
