Racist? Should Diane Abbott resign?

People like her give the real left wingers a bad name.

The irony is, being "left wing" isn't what the media makes it out to be - it's actually pretty basic.

"In politics, Left, left-wing and leftist generally refer to support for social change to create a more egalitarian society.

They usually involve a concern for those in society who are disadvantaged relatively to others and an assumption that there are unjustified inequalities."

Not exactly crazy stuff, in some regards I'd wager most conservatives are left wing (in some ways).

what is seen as "centre" in the uk is fairly off to the left.

The fact 45% of out spending is on benefits and welfare shows this...

They usually involve a concern for those in society who are disadvantaged relatively to others and an assumption that there are unjustified inequalities.

quite an assumption to make isn't it, in fact I'd go as far to say it's a crazy thing to say.

Especially when you use that assumption to take hard eared money from others to give freely to the "disadvantaged" because you believe the gap in wealth between them is "unjustified".

For example my brother will earn far more than me, is this an unjustified inequality?

No, he has worked a lot harder for it than i ever have.

However he will be ripped for huge sums of tax because of this despite having a harder job, having worked harder to get it and in all honesty a more worthwhile and beneficial job.

We both come from the same home, same background.

So why is the inequality between us considered unjustified by the left and why should he be punished for it?

now that's just laughable. obvious chip is obvious.

she should be sacked but there will be an outrage if she's sacked, so she'll get pushed into a job where she is no longer able to voice opinion but still be on, what does an MP get these days, £65k+? and don't forget the expenses

props to her really, played the system and got exactly what she wanted, a cushy little number and the chance to have voiced her ridiculous opinions

Imagine if she got some power, she would do everything to give White people nothing and Black people everything

For an MP she is always on tv sticking her snout in

So she said something stupid on twitter...so what. She explained herself, was she not referring to 19th century colonialism or something, and apologised. Seems like a big deal about nothing tbh.

I wonder why she didn't use the term "Loved" instead of "Love" if she was talking in the past tense?

Because its twitter......this is why politicians and others who need to doube and triple check everything they do and say lest it be misconstrued or used against them should leave social networking the hell alone.

Is it not?

no. she's gone too far with this chip on her shoulder that she has, very unproffessional!

'taxi drivers don't pick up black people'

'west indian mothers will go to the ends of the earth for their children' (other races obviously do not then?)

'cameron and clegg are posh white boys'

and she also criticised harriet harmen (sp?) for sending her children to private school, guess where she sent hers the year after?

there is more but i'm sure you get the idea....

She's generally rather horrible and we should capitalise on this opportunity to try and oust her. ;)

I have only ever seen her on This Week, she seemed amiable enough, never pegged her as a racist or anti-white. I think it is a mountain out of a molehill tbh.....

This

Only a idiot would think she was on about 19th century history

Nothing to do with the Stephen Lawrence case

The Race card is not just a internet meme

Call me cynical, but the whole "I was talking about 19th Century Colonialism" explanation reeks of desperate back-pedalling in a rather ham-fisted attempt to save her own skin by spinning the whole thing, rather than the truth of what she was actually saying.

As other's have said, if a white politician made such a derogatory remark about black people then they'd have had their P45 rather promptly. The system seems to reek of double standards, but then again this is politics, so we shouldn't really be surprised.

so you don't believe her job should be given to someone who doesn't have a chip on their shoulder and therefore is far less likely to make a biased decision?
