***Final Fantasy XIII-2***

I really wouldn't get your hopes up Square dropped the ball when Enix joined them.

If its as good or equal terms to FF13 ill be happy i enjoyed that regardless of its linear path sometimes i just want to be told and story and play it i dont need a million side quests all the time.

1 side quest in the first 30hrs would have been nice though ey? 13 was **** as this will be also. I don't think fans of the old could like the new, They feel like two different game types at times.

Well considering how much I have loved Final fantasy from the beginning. I enjoyed 13 also. Wasnt as good as previous final fantasy games. But it was hardly a bad game. Fair enough others didnt like it. But that hardly matters to me does it?

I will say this. Final Fantasy 13 has zero re-playability. Previous games, I've enjoyed a second play through, where I know what I'm doing and am able to pwn all the way through. 13, I got bored trying to play through a second time.

But as said by a few others, if this new one is as good as 13. I'll be happy.

Where as I've completed 7 three times, Same with others. You are on rails for the first 30hrs of the game (at normal pace) Then it opens up and by that time most people couldn't be bothered (it's all thrown at you) and gave up. It's rubbish in comparison and you know it.

From the people I've talked to who have played the jap version, they have said that xiii-2 is far far better than xiii.

What you on about? I like FF7/X you could say there old style but i still loved FF13 it was just different wasnt bad at all.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

All you want

You know it's true. Name 1 game Square have made with enix that has been better than anything Square did on their own?

Define better. I thought X was far superior to VI, even though the majority of people have a fanboygasm over VI.

Rubbish in comparison to 7? Yes

Rubbish in Comparison to 8? Yes

9-12? Nope

Its not as good as them...But rubbish. Not really

I'm sorry but 10 and 9, particularly 10, were way better than 13. I didn't mind 13, it was an alright RPG, but its a shadow of what Squaresoft used to produce. 13 had detestable characters, a main protagonist with no personality or anything interesting to say, a villain who didn't show himself until 30 hours into the game (and whos motivations and final goal still make little sense to me) and a plot that plodded along and yeilded nothing particularly interesting. What XIII did have was a great battle system, wonderful graphics and (once it finally opened up) some rather decent quests and 'boss fights'. But that's exactly what was wrong with it, Final Fantasy is a favourite amongst JRPG fans for its storyline development and characters as much as it is about the gameplay (perhaps even more-so with the best titles, FFVII for example offered nothing particularly ground breaking or exciting in terms of gameplay, the storyline is what drove me forward and created excitement). Even the ending was naff, they spend their whole time saying they want to prevent cocoon from getting destroyed, then go and destroy it (and, other than fang and vanille, none of the main characters knew that it was possible to save the inhabitants after killing orphan, so why would they happily join in in killing what they believe is what they were meant to defend?)

IIRC X-2 was the first title that had the SquareEnix logo at the start, i too believe there is a notable decline in the quality of the series after SquareEnix began its lifetime. I'm still waiting for what i'd consider a 'good' Final Fantasy game, 12 was okish, but none of the other titles have even competed with X and below.

Oh right yeah cool, That was a Squaresoft not a SquareEnix Game.

;)

Streeteh is right first SquareEnix game was X-2

X-2 bombed, XI bombed, XII actually did ok but the story was horrid and the same with XIII.

FF games were about exploring a whole world! seeing new sights, Taking a break from the main story (which is normally very good) and doing some side quests. Hell even finding a small town and running about talking to the locals and learning their story, Although limited even 10 had elements of all this.
None of this was in 13, You spent 30 hours! yes 30! doing nothing but the same on rails story. Then it opened up to a sodding field and you were allowed to "explore". I know of at least 3 people who got to that point and just thought oh to hell with this.

Streeteh knows what I'm on about. I'm guessing the guys defending it have all got to the end and it livens up from there? I don't thank anyone for giving me 30 opening hours of on rails game play in a RPG.

I hold out no hope for this XIII-2 but I'd love to be proven wrong and it actually be good, Hell we haven't even heard anything of late about XIII vs.

ZG002, Just because YOU dont like it doesnt mean others cant, I finished it loved it all and the explore parts and addition fights you could do i didnt and these were the "Best" parts according to allot of people for me not so much i enjoyed the story and the game play was out standing the cut scenes were also great (PS3 version)

Were defending it cause we like it your making it sound like we shouldnt and were wrong regardles

You are imo

I just get angry at people defending SquareEnix as they are a shadow of their former self.

Never mind

Unsubscribe from the deluded thread.

Im not defending them im just saying whilst i enjoy the game personaly i havent played every single FF so i cant comment on SquareEnix are better now or if SquareSoft was but FF13 is far from rubbish it has faults as does every game.

I said it then if you dont like a game after few hours any who played it to the 30hr mark to then stop playing it was just silly

If you liked FF13 you owe it to yourself to play the earlier ones, i personally recommend FF7 and FF10. While i'm not a huge fan of FF13 it does display all of the elements of the franchise, albeit in a cut down or less pleasing form.

Everyone who likes JRPGs owes it to themselves to at least try FF7.

I have FF7 currently playing i just unfortuenatly have never finished it, Same with FFX i got so far about an hour or so after you face the monster on the cliff(were you push it off fight is quite long) was i think quite a way into game but again never finished cant re-call why.
