Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

Holy mother of god this game finally works and I'm in love haha :) Played for a few hours today and considering I loved BF2 I seem to be able to get into the swing of this pretty easily :) Now time to start earning all of these lovely upgrades!

is this not just the spot assignment? didnt realise there was one for just laser designating. if it is the spot on then go to a knife only map and just just tugs

There is the "Laser Designator Medal" which is for 300 damage assists with the laser designator.

In addition to the Surveillance Medal (which you get for the MAV / TUGS)
 
Only done three assignments so far, still need a repair tool kill and a knife kill to complete another two. Any volunteers to be my victims lol.:D

Its exactly like BF2. And all of the complaints i've seen so far fail to explain why its "nothing like bf" beyond an observation that some seem more obsessed with the stats than playing the game. but the remedy to that is to ... just find a better group of regulars to play with ?

I always play the same clan and have done for the last 13 years since kingpin and mohaa:D

The game does not feel like bf2 to me and it belongs on consoles,just because you like it dont mean that i should like it,besides i have a refund now anyhow.
Like i said without the b2k the game is a massive failure,shows how good bf2 actually was....LoL
Ill wait for BF4,i aint missing anything here and theres a lot more to play anyhow.

I played a bit of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 yesterday and for some reason it felt so much easier than Battlefield 3.

I need some tips for effective use of the Sniper Rifles as it's the only class thats not finished (or nearly finished).

I tried it too, was bored with just one round of conquest.

Tip: use recon with lower range scopes to get rid of scope flare and sway. You can still be effective at range once you get used to it, but obviously once you unlock the mav you can use that for looking for targets.
 
Good fun on Matt's server there, the high tickets are great.

The other side was a big whiney though, couple of random sore losers. Relax!

The different voting messages are good Matt, it makes it much clearer how to vote.

I'm struggling going for headshots to be honest, my aim isnt all that great usually (at 14.4%)
 
Mk11 with ACOG and supressor = my death machine. It's only now that I've got the L96 that I'm even using a 'proper' scope, I just used to take them off and use the semi-autos as iron-sighted battle rifles until I could unlock a 4x. Works quite well, but I don't suggest trying it with a bolt action :p

Always get them, People really hate the M320 and RPG but if it's not forbidden then it's going to be used. On some servers I've played it's forbidden but it leads to a complete stand off at a base with no way out other than smoke (which lasts 2 seconds)

I couldn't get into BF2, whilst it was fun to play with friends, it was a dull experience on my own. Not saying BF3 is any better at that, but the days of jumping into BF2 with a squad leader who was good are long gone (rare but was kind of cool). Finding BF3 can be a similar story with team mates who might as well not be on your team (most servers, not all). BF3 does ease it up for playing with mates as getting on the same team and squad was rather difficult in BF2.
