Unfortunately it wasn't intended and I've only just noticed it after washing my car for the first time in about 6 months :(

It is a nasty white paint and seems fairly thick (potentially a spilt pot on a road or from a newly painted road), its splattered all over the doors, boot, rear bumper is heaped and so forth.

I've tried Autoglym tar remover and some VERY VERY old (read 10 years already opened) white spirit - can anyone suggest anything I can buy to help me get it off?

I can pick it off with my finger nail and it doesn't seem to have harmed the paintwork doing it this way but it would take days and I'm lazy!

Thanks in advance.

You'll probably need some cellulose thinners or acetone (nail polish remover). Lightly rub until removed, wash and then wax.

If you have a car with stong paint, that's fine. If it's japanese or french, t-cut might be the order of the day

If you can get it off with your finger the first thing i'd be trying would be a clay bar.

I've never seen, used, held a clay bar, so how many would I need to do a whole car? Do I just rub it on the area?

Is it something Halfords would sell or best to get them online? I'm not going to have time to play about till the weekend anyhow!

Halfords will sell a kit and it's incredibly easy to use

Wash car
Apply clay bar lube (or more water)
Use clay bar
Done!

Update!

Got myself an Autoglym Surface Detailing Clay Kit today from Halfrauds.

I was a bit disappointed to begin with as it didn't seem to be doing much but it seems I needed more lube (often happens.....).

Anyhow, I've spent about 2 hours solid on just the boot and the boot is now clean and smooth and sorted out, now just the rest of the car to go.

Thanks for the recommendations and I'm glad I've found out about this clay stuff it's amazing.

Cheers all :)

Congratulations, you will now find yourself spending more money on keeping your car clean than computers or food.

Go directly to www.detailingworld.co.uk and read all the training threads. Don't look back. :D

Since you have gone to the effort of claying your car, do the whole lot and then use some SRP as a polish and some EGP to seal it......
