I ordered a Corsair 1050W PSU from a competitor since OcUK dont stock it

the box arrived with a UK power adapter? I have no opened the box because this has confused me.. have I got some kind of grey import?

You mean its a 2 pin plug? Use travel adaptor or buy cheap UK kettle lead, both will work fine and yes chances are its import

yeah two pin.. is this normal? It came from the company named after that big rain forest :) .. I would expect it to be non-dodgy?

Im just wondering if this is normal as most manufactures wont provide you with a warranty if I have a product intended for singapore in the UK etc?

It's fine, its a proper corsair unit just imported to keep costs down ect,a UK travel plug or UK kettle lead (psu mains cable) will work fine

arrived with an adapter.. a separate one... same thing happened when I bought my dodgy import Canon 40D. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a dodgy import :)

Well I wouldn't acccept it and send it back. Why should you hve to shell out another few quid just to use something youve already spend a ton+ on already?

Edit - to slow I see it has an adapter included.

No its fine, they will honor rma, could have been because they had no stock left so imported too, by law they have to provide a UK mains adaptor and he says it came with one

If it was bought directly from the place in question. It's fine. If it was bought from one their sellers, somewho who uses the marketplace. It may be worth looking into.

However. A Corsair unit, is indeed that... a Corsair unit. I don't know of any fakes on the market trying to imitate them. Easy to find out. Take a note of the serial and punch it into Corsairs site, should be able to check out warranty details etc. Register the product or just email them.

Well i've opened it now... its one of those semi-modular ones

I want to sleeve the cables.. do I take the PSU apart and sleeve the permanent cables starting from the inside of the PSU?

opening the psu will void its warenty, you need a tool to remove the plugs from cables, that way if you needed to return it you can just remove the sleaving and no one will know.

He means the power lead from house socket to psu,its plug in/out

I understand opening it will void its warranty

I saw this tool on the MDPC website and was quite costly... is there an alternative? DIY job?
