Currently have a 22" Samsung 2233RZ and I'm looking for a new main/bigger monitor for gaming and I want to go back to 1920x1080. I mainly play FPS games so another 120hz monitor may be the best bet, but then again my old 24" Dell 2409W(?) was great as well.

Any recommendations please?

Thanks.

How is it for gaming?

I've got a GTX460 1GB, will the resolution affect my performance that much?

My brother has Dell U2412M and it is amazing sleak monitor. The colours are very nice, fresh and vibrant as it is afterall IPS panel technology.

As for your gfx, that would largerly depend on the ingame settings. GTX 460 will be fine for 1920x1200 res. However you will need to experiement with different in-game settings to see which one gives smooth performance and that could be either medium or high along with AA disbaled/enabled etc etc.

Although at these resolutions 1GB vram is increasingly becoming limited for newer games such as BF3, Crysis 2 (DX11), etc

I always play my settings on low, due to the fact that graphics mean naff all to me. I will eventually be upgrading my GFX card but that will be a few months down the line.

I'm worried the monitor won't perform well in FPS situations for fast motion.

I would choose the Dell U2412M, it is a good price for what you get and the fact you get an ips panel monitor for that price is good :).

I'm more bothered about the responsiveness for gaming as that's what I mainly do.

Is the lag/blur that noticeable/problematic when playing games such as BF3 etc?

Thanks.

no it's not.

i play BF3 on a u2311h from dell, which is slightly worse than the u2412m in terms of both input lag and responsiveness, and i still do just fine.

if i was a progaming CD or Quake 3 player, i probably would have problems. :)

here's link to my BF3 stats for you to see i'm not making stuff up

I just bought a Dell 2312UH and it's fantastic, I play a lot of COD4 and it'd perfect with low input lag. I imagine the 2412 will be just as good.

It has the best input lag out of any ips panel infact it beats nearly every TN panel even 120hz models for input lag.

Very very good monitor for gaming if you not going 120hz that is.(i personally would for pure gaming)

Nevermind got the model wrong...though the 2412HM still has very very good input lag but the 2312HM has really good low input lag see here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm

Just ordered the Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24". Least I've got 7 days from Tuesday to test it and decide on it.

As much as I like this 120Hz monitor, it isn't actually mine so meh.
