I currently use an Nvidia GTX295 but my X48TDQ6 mobo is crossfire only so i am thinking of getting 2 ATI cards so i can do a crossfire set up.

What would be a good choice as i am thinking of something in the 6800 range.

BTW i have a Coolermaster 1250watt PSU so no problem with powering them.

Thanks.

The 295 is still a beast of a card.

Why not wait for a while for the new mid range AMDs?

Also, I presume your board supports SLI aswell?

OK thanks. My board does not support SLI as i think only the X58 chipset or above does.

My GTX295 is a dual GPU card so is effectively an SLI set up anyway but i want to go DX11 with a dual GPU but i cant find an nvidia card with one.

What exactly do you mean?

Many boards before the X58 support SLI :)

The GTX590 has DX11.

You may be better of getting a single powerful single GPU card or mate going for a single 7970?

The X48 and its predecessor the X38 were Intels top end boards when they were released but they didn't support SLi, crossfire only I'm afraid. It wasn't until the X58 and P55 era that Intel started natively supporting SLi. If you wanted SLi action on the skt 775 platform you needed to have a Nvidia chipset based board eg 680i, 780i etc. Unfortunately the Nvidia boards were notoriously crap for overclocking CPUs especially quads. There are hacks around so you can get SLi working on the Intel chipset but it's probably more hassle than it's worth.

I sold my EVGA GTX295 , suprisingly worthless these days considering it was £600 when i bought it. probably get £100 if your lucky with everyone wanting dx11. i would wait for the new gen of nvidia cards. i upgraded to gtx 580 but theres no massive difference i think

A 7970 would be a good upgrade :)
