Hi guys,

Going to Cardiff next Saturday. Will probably spend the day in the centre and the evening at the cinema/having a meal at the Red Dragon Centre. I've noticed that parking at the Red Dragon Centre is free if you validate your ticket with one of the resturants/cinema.

In theory then, could I park there all afternoon whilst in town, then have a meal in the evening and get free parking? Whats the catch?

Thanks!

Didn't read the post! DJMK4

My guess, is if they are smart, you may have a time limit for parking too. Or if film lasts X long you may have X+30mins (random time picked, but say for before and after) to claim for parking.
There's a place in edinburgh that does it but honestly can't remember how it operates. I'm sure there is some form of time limit for parking too.

I've found free parking at the Red Dragon Centre. I just need to know whether there is a maxmimum stay for the free parking when spending money at the centre offer :)

The website isn't very clear and doesnt mention a maximum stay - just a minimum spend.

Don't think there's much of a catch at all tbh. We were there a few weeks back and one of our cousins did something similar on the Saturday. There is a great steak house called Miller and Carter which is beside Chiquitos if you're looking for womehere nice to eat.

The catch is that if you want to go to town from there, it's quite far on foot.

I'm not sure if there is a time limit though.

Miller and Carter is overpriced crap

It's next door to Cardiff Bay station - train runs every 12 minutes for £2 return.

True, I think you are too sensible lol. I have only ever caught that train once.

You can almost guarantee parking in Cardiff these days after they built St Davis 2 shopping centre and the car park, it's huge! It has over a thousand spaces and it is not that expensive considering.

If that is full then John Lewis has a giant car park too.

No catch. Used to work down the bay, park up all day and then buy a sandwich at lunch time.

Why are you going to Cardiff by the way?

Yours and mine opinion of overpriced must differ somewhat as it wasn't very expensive and the steaks were good. Or do you prefer Angus in Leicester Square at £20 for an 8oz Sirloin without sides? Sorry for the derailment.

Yea but it's like 9 quid for a day

£5 more and your car is much closer.

Depends if you are willing to tolerate the hassle of getting the train out of town I suppose.

Edit, £16?! Lol fair enough but the above point is still the same I suppose, how much do you think the hassle is worth.

I thought the steak was average at best, pub food quality.

Went with old man + his mrs. Came to £80 for three of us with starters and wine. Had much much better meals with him @ £60 mark

Yea I edited, its £16. And it's not exactly out of the way given I'm going there in the evening anyway - just wanted to know if there was a catch to the plan, like a maximum stay or something thats all :)
