Hi Guys, went to go to work this morning and my 52reg 206 GTi would not start, engine turns over but not firing, had no error messages come up anywhere, all electrics seem to work. Am guessing immobilizer or BSI issue?

Can try the BSI reset procedure but not sure if this will fix.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers.

Chris.

There was just under half a tank last time i drove it so should be fine that way, not sure of spark will have to look later, started as normal on saturday and ran fine?

You know how to reset the BSI? could just be because it's cold. My 206 gets an airbag warning light come on when its cold, all i do is wait till the engine warms up, going down hill, switch off/on the engine and the light goes off lol

Have got the instructions to reset the BSI, may give this a go tonight, only other thing i can think of is that i had economy mode active come up when i turned the ignition on a few days ago, car started fine that time though.

Ecomony mode = battery low on power.

BSI reset is easy.

1. open drivers windows
2. Switch off engine, remove key, wait for the milege light to go off (make sure everything else is off like headlights etc... and the bonnet is open)
3. pull the negative (the one closest to the front of the bonnet) off the battery. wait 10 minutes
4. plug it back in, go to drivers side, put key in ignition but don't turn it, put side lights on and you will hear a beep. start engine

That will clear all the fault codes too

am not sure will have to check later, so maybe battery is going downhill? BSI reset and see what happens, may need a jump start then if battery is on its way out

If the BSI doesn't fix it then you're looking at a new battery or at least if you're going to jump it, leave the car running for about 10 mins to give the battery some charge

My Xsara vts did this, BSI reset didn't work. Had to goto dealer and pay £70 to reflash the BSI.
